Lathe drive dogs and set up.
I had to take the piece turned with a shoulder and turn it more so the leg on drive dog caught chuck:facepalm:

This is why I have 4 propane tanks! Way more than I need but I've forgotten multiple times! Usually by the 4th tank I remember to throw them in the bed and pick some up on the way home!

I shook the tank before I lit it, felt like it had some in it. Oops.

Too bad there isn't any way for the manufacturer to get instructions to the customer -- like a book or something...

Your welcome. There's not as much engagement as I'd like... shown in the picture, but just a total of .062 has to come off. I'm not going to cut it back farther again.

Edit; I'll cut it back farther after this job.

What is the determining factor that makes you decide to use the dogs on a job?

What is the purpose of a drive dog? Why would you use it?

Guy just came by and wants to know if we can put this together somehow. It goes on a trophy from 1959.

It's early, and I am only partly caffeinated, but... WHY do you need a dog in that set-up? Isn't the work being driven by the chuck?

This is the best epoxy I ever used, single serving and never goes bad from sitting.

Loctite 21426X10 1 oz. Fast Cure Epoxy Cups - pack of 10

Yes, a magnet won't even stick to it.
