Sure it is not vacuum boosted. It is elecro-hydraulic. It can send variable levels of pressure to wheel cyl, or caliper, and modulate them faster than any human could even consider. In combination with traction control it can do amazing things. There is a video on youtube of the tacoma unburying itself from sand by packing sand under each wheel, then driving out. It is the main cost of the offroad model in addition to the locking rear end.

There's a lot of pages, so apologies if this has already been said:

If you get the off road in a manual, you can't have crawl control, but you still get the locking rear diff and a-trac system for low range.

Many people with autos complain of gear hunting while towing. I will take this opportunity to absolutely flex and say that's not a problem in my 6MT off road.

Regardless of your choice, it's a Taco so it's gonna be good!

Not entirely true. The Sport MT has a the larger rear end like the OR and Pro...

Also has better infotainment system, push button start (AT), and can be had with premium and tech package.

..and to add to the :canada: confusion, when using mpgs back in the day, it was based on the imperial gallon (which is about 4.5L as compared to the puny 3.8L US gallon lmao).

Yeah I don’t know why we don’t convert to metric…last thirty years of owning Toyotas, all of my Japanese and European dirt bikes, plus mountain bikes are all metric. Think more in metric than I do SAE. All except mileage.

HWY 19 in Arizona near the Mexico border that is in Kilometers. One of two roads in the States that are in km. Might be others not sure.

That's a small consolation for having to drive a truck with a transmission from a 1970's tractor.

If that 1970's transmission or 1950's drum brakes last for the life of the truck, perfect for me. I am not a gadget/latest greatest thing type person....
