The peanuts are the best part. The line is like two people deep! What else am I going to do during that long wait except jam my germ ridden fist into that crate and stuff my gob with ag-feed peanuts?

i cant imagine why anyone would try to protect the dealer because their family goes there. Seems like you would want people to know and prevent them from getting screwed also

OP definitely should get a solution he’s comfortable with but that being said, it’s crazy how good the synthetic oils are today. Zero oil pressure for a couple of turns would have destroyed a crank running mineral oil. Lots of videos out there of guys draining the oil and seeing how long it takes to blow. Sometimes it’s surprising how long it takes with synthetic.

What Ranny said is that he and his family have bought many vehicles there over the years and always got their Toyotacare servicing done there as well, and for many years had no problems at all. I think he's trying to give the dealer the benefit of the doubt until/if the dealer shows themselves to be as unscrupulous as some of us think they may be.

Yup. Stuff happens but how he's made whole again is what will really make it. I myself try to give more than ample chance for someone to correct an issue, so that way if I do end up putting it out there it can't be said that I didn't do everything else first to solve it.

Can't speak for Ranny, but I'd say putting a dealer on blast while they have his truck runs a really tall risk of getting the worst possible outcome, and I don't think he wants to chance that. But mainly from what I've gathered, Ranny is a very respectable guy and sees value in people. He values that he's established some kind of relationship with this dealer, and he values the tech that screwed it up as a person who just made a mistake; he's not looking to crucify the kid, he just wants his truck back in the condition it was originally in, so instead of going full Karen, he's cashing in on this established relationship, and proving his worth as a respectful customer.

Ranny seems like the kind of guy you wouldn't want to mess with. Not because he yells the loudest, but because he thinks before he speaks, and loyal to the core; the kind of guy who gives you every opportunity to make it right, until you don't.. Then he uses his grown up skills to address it as needed, out of the public eye. Some see it as weakness, some see it highly respectable. No matter what we think of him, I think we're all rooting for him

Its not a knock on Ranny but its easier to say when the dealer is not in your area but for those of us in Georgia, i would like to know the specific dealer so if i have to visit a dealer for warranty or non warranty work i can have a chance at finding one that will own up to their mistakes. So im patiently awaiting the results of this.

Ranny is also patiently awaiting the results, and there's still an opportunity for it to be made right in his eyes. For that reason, I assume hes reserving his opinion on whether or not the dealer deserves to be flamed. That aside, its also just a smarter decision to reserve those thoughts until a later time, given the potential that he could very well end up pursuing legal action, if he felt led to. Side note, there's more of us using dealers in GA than just the ones who put their location under their name :)

Being 2.5 weeks since this has started - if this happened to me, I would no longer be able to control my anger. If I wasn't hearing from the dealer on a daily basis, I would be pursuing other options. My feel is that this is just a huge chess game where each side is waiting for the others next move. I am a patient person but after this long, my patience would be gone. Good luck @Rannyhill ! I really do hope that you get it worked out but at some point, you have to tell them to pound sand and get really aggressive.

I am sure part of the delay is that the dealer does not have any new trucks to trade him into. They are waiting on their allocation to see if they have anything in transit that will work. Dealers never know what the plant is going to ship. Once they see the vehicle in transit they can talk about specific dollar amounts. It currently takes more time than we think it should.

4wd are in high demand and hard to come by based on what dealers are offering me from cold call's.
