The thing has a throw a country mile long, it's notchy and reverse is useless. It's one of the least inspiring transmission ever produced, regardless of how low you grab it on it's 3 foot long stalk to be able to pretend you can just shift it with a flick of the wrist.

People's insistence to bitterly cling to outdated and inferior technology is baffling.

    Ok.

You either are not experienced with MTs in trucks or you are just trolling.

Reverse in my previous manual trucks was the same, 2WD low mod fixes that issue. If you really think 3rd gen MT is “outdated”, then Im not sure what to say to you.

I’ll make sure to post a vid for you when I pick up my truck on Friday.

Lol. Some like the SR, some like the sport, some like the OR, some like the pro, and some are in between. But hey, whatever tickles their pickle.

It is outdated. The days of unreliable automatic slush boxes are long gone, and they get better gas mileage than your antique transmission.

I look forward to your video, I'm sure hope it's shot on your modern 8mm camera, I'll borrow a reel to reel to play it.

I mean driving style has way more to do with mpg than auto or standard. As far as reliability goes the standard has less wear parts but the clutch will go out eventually, but if an auto isn't regularly serviced its clutches will also go out. I think the planetary gear sets in an auto are mechanically stronger than the spur gears in a manual, but thats another thing thats effected by driving style. Manuals used to have an extra gear to use in most cases but now don't. I really don't think one is better or stronger than the other, its just down to personal preference. I'm lazy so I like the one that shifts on its own.

I never said ATs are unreliable or get worse gas mileage, not sure where you got this from. All good with you? Maybe a hug or something?

Modern ATs definitely get better gas mileage than MTs, it’s a well known fact. Regarding reliability, it’s a wash IMO.

    Stay tuned.

New Bronco is supposed to have a granny 1st gear on the MT. Have been driving manuals for the last 35 years, it was a little hard for me to buy an auto… it is definitely growing on me. If I do start to miss it, I grab my 1st Gen though that truck feels quite old to me now. Where-as the 3rd Gen feels refined yet still has a soul of a Toyota.

    *raising hand* :p

It only missed a couple points for me to loose out to the Tacoma.

If it can haul dirt bikes then it is a truck to me, just didn’t think would hold up as long as a Tacoma for all the washboard FS roads I run down. Lots of low hanging bits under there.
