    I don't know if this was "everywhere" or just in my neighborhood...
    When you would go "call" a friend to play or whatever, that is EXACTLY what you would do.. go on their front porch or the side of their house by their room and holler their name.. Jerry!! Jerry!! or Kenny!!! or whoever. For some reason, doorbells seemed off-limits. Like kids didn't want to bother other kids parents unnecessarily. :bowdown:
