Actually I would recommend having more sky in sunset shots than anything else because that is the main focus... If you do have anything in you sunset photos usually keep them small and in the bottom because 9 times out of 10 those subjects will be silhouetted... Which as we all know is empty black space... That's boring to look at when your doing sunset shots.. You should look into a grad ND filter too if you get serious...

And I will try to post the poll up tomorrow guys. (for the macro shots) so anyone that still wants in pm your shots. I have like 7 shots I think...

Not too bad ou did good on the bottom of the shot although I would like to see a full tree line across the bad of the photo and Im not a huge fan of he tree on the right side. Like I said before that kinda takes the main focus away from the sunset. Make sure the camera is level. Don't be afraid to bump up saturation/contrast on sunset shots too. I always love bright colored sunset shots.

anyone get harassed when they are out street shooting. I was out yesterday and not once but twice did I get harassed. Once by a citizen and next by federal agent while I was at the Metro subway station. I was not trying to hide anything and was in plain view with a short lens. the FED guy was pulling some sort of 9/11 stuff out of his bag then slowly slipped away when I turned to talk to the Metro Police. It turns out that according to the Metro web site I can shoot anywhere I want in the system. It seems that a lot of people are edgy and misinformed. I don't want to piss anyone off or offend them, to much, so i try to be discreet but not sneaky while shooting. I'm sure there is a heightened awareness here in the DC area because it is an international city. The citizen who harassed me just gave me a nasty remark then turned away before I could respond, so I let it go. My understanding is that anywhere public is fair game for photography, even the subway station here. Here is a link to photographer's rights that I found but it is by no means and end all to the rights issue.

I'm just trying to get a feel for this so I can learn to do street shooting with the minimal amount of harassment and also being able to get "the shot" I want.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
Here's some cheap shots of my own. I've never been a fan of portrait photography personally, just 'cause I see so many damn people everyday, that I'd rather see the art/beauty in the inanimate surroundings that others may not see. All photos shot with Sony DSC-W300 (point and shoot digi, no SLR here). All effects (if any) are in camera only!!! No Photoshop! (p.s. - these are the few I grabbed off my FB acct., so the quality is not the best, as they're a 4th generation upload)
