I tend to agree with this. With him driving the loaner vehicle, they have incentive to rush, the fact that it isn't over yet could be a positive sign.

Or just how slow they are would be my guess. They’ll come back to him again and say there’s no damage, offer the ‘extended’ 7 year, 120k (or whatever it is) warranty and send him on his way. They’ll make him suffer the labor of providing proof that premature wear was caused before dishing out thousands in the form of a new truck although I’m in the camp that believes they owe him one.

One thing is for sure…they want that loaner back soon.

I work in a hospital so, a patient comes into the Emergency Department first contact is a receptionist then, a nurse, a doctor, a lab tech, a transport aide, a X-ray tech, gets admitted to the hospital more nurses on and on... If one employee does something that annoys the patient then, in their mind the whole hospital sucks and they spread the word...

Well it sucked for me when i suffered a stroke...was rushed to the local hospital complaining of severe dizziness, and slurred speech. I was admitted, given exams...blood pressure, and all, plus a cat scan which they told me i was fine suffering from sea sickness, and sent me home with some pills. By evening i became paralyzed on my right side. I was driven to another hospital on my doctors orders where they did an mri that showed that i suffered a stroke. The delay caused me a huge amount of recovery time that could have been possibly avoided if the first hospital got it right. Now you wonder why some hospitals get a bad rap.

I would be too... that's why i do my own. After reading report after report of this sort of thing happening at these oil change places (dealerships/quick lube/jiffy lube) your really taking your chances. Personally, that's a risk I'm not willing to take.

The physician who handled your care made the mistake, the "hospital" is only brick and mortar. B.T.W. they are human with their profession labeled as practicing medicine and the very best information I can give with any type of service/care is to ask questions, lots of questions.

That's part of the problem with the healthcare industry is you often don't know who to blame. It's likely none of the doctors were employed by the hospital. But sometimes the contract their group has with the hospital dictates what they have to do; maybe the hospital had some metric they were aiming for that influenced the doctor's decision to not order an MRI. Or maybe the doctor just screwed up. Or the nurse on the intake didn't relay everything they were told about his condition.

how many folks do you think take the time to post.

Got my oil changed at the dealership today, everything is great, will update in a few days.

Few days later update: Still no leaks, vehicle is running fine, don't see any oil smudges anywhere ect...

Just like everything, its the bad that we all hear about and focus. You don't have real data. It's probably 1 out of 10,000 shit like this happens to.

I agree with your sentiments on all of us having a tendency to focus on “the bad” but disagree with the 1 out of 10,000 bit.
There is nothing wrong with or excessive, about managing risk. What are the chances of a Toyota mechanic or any for that matter forgetting to tighten the oil drain plug, most likely not very high but what are the chances of that drain plug not being torqued to spec, I would argue high enough as to warrant me doing my own oil changes.
My father took his Porsche 928 to a Porsche dealer to have it aligned, the mechanic specialized in 928s, a rather obscure Porsche make with even fewer qualified mechanics….,
this guy didn’t tighten the lug nuts and as my father left the lot and thank goodness was paying attention, felt something was off, got out of the vehicle and not a single lug was tightened down. If he had hit the highway, who knows what would have happened.

I'm sure they tried to do exactly that.
Someday we may hear specifics, after resolution.

On a side note, it's surprising to see how little understanding there is of how negotiation and tactics work in the real world by some of the posts. The at fault party never suggests the maximum as the opening offer. Injured party asks slightly more than they expect to receive as compensation. Which ever party positions themselves to effectively counter the claims made by opposition usually has the advantage.

Righteous indignation and emotion will weaken your position, carefully critique of every "fact" they offer will chip away the BS that is typically the basis. It's very expensive to prove damage or lack of damage, so they try the "aw shucks these things are indestructible, all the really cool people know that" or "we've been friends a long time, no need to let a little thing like this ruin a good relationship" approach. Stay the course, only two solutions are acceptable a full and complete physical analysis (not my senior tech says it's fine, with zero metrics) or a replacement vehicle with zero to minimal cost. They can trade you for way less than a tear down inspection/repair/reassembly.

The tipping point is wearing them down, at some point it's worth giving what you ask (within reason) You're at an advantage having possession of their loaner, and they will use that at some point saying how great they are for letting you use it...Thank them for the loaner and then respond with "that's why I haven't ask you for loss of use compensation"

More than 2.5 weeks, that's for sure. Have you seen the "how long did you wait" thread for brand new truck orders? I don't think his dealer can run any numbers if they can't get their hands on a new replacement truck. As for new engine, its probably not even on the table for the dealer, when they expect they may get to sell a new truck, and brush the old truck off onto someone else.

From the past history of TW, If everyone keeps loading this thread up with speculation and BS. The mods will lock this thread and then the OP will have to post his final results in a new thread or in another thread where it will more than likely be lost. The OP is playing his position but NOT in front of us. @Rannyhill keep us posted as you have been Sir. Thanks.
