Closest for me is the same. Makes travel kind of suck. Its a full day of travel each way no matter what. Unless I want to buy a ticket out of my small town on a small puddle jumper to get to Phoenix. Then still need to drive a hour to the other side of the valley to the other airport. And that route still only saves me maybe a hour.

I've been in agreement with the camp that basically says:
- USD is valuable because it is the world's most stable and power-backed currency.
- Stocks and Bonds are valuable because they represent ownership of production and tangible property.
- Real Estate is valuable as housing is both an essential good and service.
- Commodities are valuable as they are inputs to all other forms of value. And people need to eat.
- Cryptocurrency (and by extension, NFTs - same concept) is valuable because...???

I see nothing going on there except Greater-Fool theory, and it looks like they might have found the greatest one for the moment.

 

Crypto = ponzi until it's got a real use-case, and not just buying drugs on the darkweb. It needs to be used as a currency for something, not just an "investment" vehicle.

 

Right, and the issue with this, of course, is its extremely volatile exchange value. That is exactly the *opposite* of what you want in a currency. If I have $1000 today, I know what I can do with it, I know what I will be able to do with it tomorrow within reason, and I have a pretty clear picture of what I will be able to do with it in 5 years.

Cryptos can change value 30% between when you start filling your gas tank and when you finish.

The proof-of-authenticity side of blockchain seems like a useful concept, but as it currently stands there are much easier/less energy consumptive ways of managing the same mechanic, so it doesn't really have a competitive advantage there. The analogy would be that you *can* heat your home with an open fire pit in middle of the living room, but you won't in a world with electric heat pumps.

This is the entire crux of my GME play. All of what you just stated is coming, sooner rather than later. Much sooner.

 

Yeah. I've been following their token work, and honestly it's the main reason I'm still in. It certainly seems that if anything is going to flush out bullshit, it's that.

If the dividend comes and goes without meaningful price action, I'm probably getting off the wagon at that point.
