I’m a little over 300 miles on my 22 SR5 v6 4x4 and I’m currently getting 25.1 mpg. My previous Tacomas never got this kind of number. Is anyone else getting this?

Is this by the computer on the dash or did you calculate it at the pump after fill up?

how did you come up with that number? did the dash cluster tell you? or did you do a little math and find the actual mileage?

I did one long road trip with my SR5 when it was still stock (plus the Bakflip bed cover) and I averaged 24mpgs after a full tank on the highway. Now I get around 18mpg. 19 if I do a trip with mostly highway driving.

Those numbers were by the dash readout.

2020 SR5 Double Cab Short Bed V6 2WD, stock except a LEER 100XL and on long interstate trips staying at a consistent cruise controlled speed I can get high 23s mpg but I do mostly city busy traffic driving and average 17-19 average. This is all calculated on the computer screen, calculated it manually twice on fill up and was within .2 mpg.

I get anywhere between 14-20 mpg depending on how late I am to the destination I'm headed to

    A bunch..and no build thread!
In my truck, I get between fuck all and you're kidding for gas mileage.

Seriously, it's terrible, but I didn't build it for fuel economy!

    Glad you're getting good mileage!

No. You'd better hang on to that one. It must have been produced for a Toyota executive.

My SR5 2wd got good gas mileage too prior to 265 75 16 and shaving its mustache but I’m not complaining.

It’s the computer on the dash. Are they not accurate? I’m still on the dealer gas. It has 324 miles.

My on board reading is usually pretty close. As are most of them here. Some people still like writing checks too I guess.

I get 19 on 87 but accidentally put in 89 on the return trip. It was 24.5. Both were on the dash. With the gas so high and all the oil company’s making record profits (90 billion last year) a 20% increase pays for itself.

I get 20mpg in my 17 SR5 DC mostly city but combined with a light bit of highway, stock wheels/suspension but removed front lower valence and bakflip tonneau. Always 87 octane, cuz i can't go higher, barely afford that.

The computer is actually pretty accurate for it's mpg calculations.

I believe your SR5 can get 24+ MPG in ambient temp/wind and non-mountainous terrain if you are primarily highway and operate at less than 65 MPH. I've come to expect ~22 combined in my mostly stock long bed, even a little better if I take the cap off. Switching to highway tires (Michelin Defender) this week and hopefully this can get me another .5 MPG. Every little bit helps.

That is probably an anomaly. If I use 93 vs 87, I get about a 1.5max mpg gain from ignition timing advance and maybe some other cam phase changes, not really sure how the cam logic works relative to fuel knock resistance. That 1.5mpg number I have repeated many times, probably 10 or more.

Best i've seen on my 2020 sr5 was 23 mpg and change. Really the only way i'm going to do better is to shut the engine off when coasting down hills or at traffic lights.
