I do not want to name dealer at this point but I paid for assembly of OME shocks from them. I had a shock fail a strand me in the desert. I installed lift in Minnesota knowing I was going to retire a year later.
Vender states I should buy better equipment.
Vender states I bought this over two years ago tuff luck.

Please see below pics and see if you agree.
Please not lower rubber bushing was pushed into top of dust guard top. Dust guard eventually broke free. I believe a "washer" was left out in assembly

Wow, that not warranty, is that rust and dirt or just dirt. I would have to lean at a cheaper set.

Is that the top of the shock body that came apart?
Either way two year old install I'd say its on you especially cuz OME is pretty low on the pecking order of choice for Tacomas.
Id think you'd want something of better quality if you're out wandering the desert.

    Buy once cry once.

I can't imagine they would have held up two years incorrectly assembled. Isn't OME's warranty 3 years? Try reaching out to ARB.

If I get the highest quality shock out there and then assemble it wrong will it still hold up or will it break? Because if I can get the best shock and just you know put it together like a crackhead monkey and it'll hold up let me know what shock that is please.

Dirt perhaps. Should I bothered to clean this up before I took the picture?

When I was in Minnesota I never drove the truck. I drove a 2005 Ford focus everyday to work no matter what the weather was like got around great.

I think it’s the Grammar Nazi’s way of letting you know you misspelled a few words in typing. They demand every post be worthy of publication in a major scientific journal though this is just a forum for goobs with trucks and spelling and typo’s don’t count.

I’ve seen more spelling errors in mainstream online news articles, carry on.

Will do tomorrow basically a washer for lack of a better word was missing between what would be the top of the dust guard so then the desk guard pushed into that rubber washer grommet bushing whatever and to the shock out of alignment if you look at the top hat that's not normal where this is a 20,000 mi shock most of it done on Minnesota roads.

And the new OME shock came with one extra washer that the old assembly did not have. Again paid for this assembly don't care if it was 2 years ago it was done wrong. Should vendor own up?

The metal cone is what the dust guard attaches to. There should have been a thick washer on top of the cone then the lower bushing. On top of the lower bushing should be a 2nd washer with a lip around the center hole. This lip locates into the top mount. Some manufacturers include a 2nd lipped washer to go on top of the mount then bushing and another flat washer and nut.

Looks like your vendor didn't put the washer on top of the cone so the cone just pushed through the lower bushing. Now you have a shock shaft thats loose in the mount and wearing the hole out.

This should have happened pretty quick after install and you didn't notice. It would be pretty hard to get a vendor across the country to do something 2 years latter.

I still don't understand how this stranded you in the desert. The shock does look blown due to the oil all over everything but it doesn't look like the shaft broke at the top from your pictures.
