Is that the Leer 180? If so, is there enough room for a sleeping platform and still have the ability to sit up? Thanks, just can't decide what to get. I'm 6' but want a sleeping platform the height of the wheel wells but still want to be able to sit up.

    In the end...
I decided not to camp in the abandoned children's petting zoo lot that night.
    Super creepy!

Yes it is a Leer 180.

I've been going ultra light and use a cot to sleep on. I use most of my backpacking ultra light equipment in the back of the truck. No wood build out for my truck. I need to use the back for multiple purposes besides camping and the ability to remove everything quickly.

Early this year I cut the legs of the cot down to lower it a bit closer to the wheel wells. It now works better for me but I'm 5' 9.5" tall.

This is a photo prior to cutting the legs down on the cot. I cut them off right below the cross bars.

    upload_2022-5-11_5-35-27.jpg

As for whether you can sit up.. that I can't answer however the height measurement from the wheel wells to the top is 32.5". From bottom of bed to top is 42".

Sitting on my cot now, I'm about 10" from the bottom of the bed since it sags from weight when sitting on it (it is not firm like 3/4" plywood).

    @ORMarine

Just snapped this photo of my modified cot height, which provides more clearance overhead while sitting on the cot.

Can I ask what model cot that is. It looks like it only has two sets of legs instead of the usual three sets. Most of the cots I have found researching have a middle set of legs that will interfere with the wheel well in the bed of the truck.

Recently spent 21 days truck camping across the South East.. Same as last year, I never paid for a night of sleep.. Truck stop showers and lived solely out of my truck..

It was an absolute blast! I put a little over 3,400 miles on the Tacoma and averaged between 20.5 and 22.5 MPG with the 2.7l.. Honestly don't know how I pulled off that great of MPG's in a 5400lb rig.. I averaged a little over 17MPG last year.. The only thing I done different was take the ladder rack and solar shower off the roof..

During this time, I killed 6 birds in 5 different states (9 birds in 6 states total this year).. Ready for spring of 2023 now!

that looks like so much fun dude, there is just something about enjoying the fruits of your labor that makes appreciate the exquisite beauty of life. Always wanted to hunt for turkey, I am a lousy fisherman, lousy hunter.

Care to share your approximate route?

My long trips have all been out west (starting in Georgia makes for a long trip...) Give the current geo-political situation, this year we are not venturing west, so I am looking for ideas of a Southern trip.

I love turkeys.. It is one of the highlights in my life.. I prepare for it year around.. Spent 28 days on the road last year from South Florida to South Dakota.. Got my single season public land grand slam.. It is rewarding

I searched for a long time trying to find one that only had legs on the ends and wouldn't interfere with the wheel well. It does work very well in the back of a 6' Tacoma bed.

    Teton Sports Somnia Camp Cot

I've used this cot many times and one need not use anything on top like I have. The reason I used an additional product on top was to improve the R factor for cold weather camping and a bit extra comfort.

Appears this place still has them in stock for $44

With under 600 miles on the odometer- we headed out to the Blue Ridge for a few days of camping and hiking. Next upgrade is a cap instead of just the tonneau cover.
