My wife's the same way, I've driven used cars into the ground since I got my license, we are finally in a place for me to buy new.

Biggest thing for me was getting rid of my credit card payments at the beginning of the year, that alone was most of a Tacoma payment. Wife's Rav was just paid off, and we also refinanced our mortgage in 2020 (literally knocked our payment down 25% thanks to home values shooting up so we could also get rid of PMI).

I love the look of the scoop (I had a '99 4Runner SR5 with one), but the OR was more up my alley.

Ah forgive me, appreciate that clarification. Since I just usually see the TRD sport listed for less new, I thought that was based on MSRP.

TW may have helped with my sickness, but it certainly isn't to blame!

    Passed mods

1982 Mustang GT, full 5.0L EFI conversion with port matched intake, bigger throttle body and MAS, 2½ exhaust, T5 trans, '88 Tubro couple 8.8" diff with disc, then back to drums with 5 lug, etc, etc, etc. Not a single bolt screw nut was missed...

1991 Explorer, custom 5½ lift with 32" Super Stampers radials, custom 5.0L EFI conversion, custom wide ratio AOD transmission, rear disc brake conversion....

1988 Samurai, 2" Bone shackles, 235/75R15's on 15x7 wheels with spool in the rear...

    1989 4Runner V6 auto (no drive train) , swapped in a 22RE, 5spd, 31x10.5's...

Some of these were before the endless help the internet provides... my sickness is real and definitely not TW's fault.

Even the SR has too much stuff on it for me, like my vehicles more basic, though do like Apple car play, use maps and awful lot to keep an eye on traffic, as it can be a real shit show at times. Liking the information screen in the dash, rather than on a janky ram mount like I have in my 1st Gen.

I am cheap, maybe because I pay cash. Initially was doing to get the SR 4 cylinder, my wife talked me into the 6. Plan was to keep this one as long as possible, had the last one for 20 years (still have it actually) but the turbo 4 hybrid peaks my interest. So much for wanting basic… lol!

Yeah people can do what ever they want, it does give me a good laugh! Modded the hell out of the last truck, not doing it with this one, don’t feel the need maybe because rather explore the back country with a dirt or mountain bike. Could toss $100K at the truck and still couldn’t get it in where I can get the bikes.

The reason you see the sport listed lower starting price is because it's available in Access Cab with MT and the Off Road is not.

Just stupid Toyota doesn't offer the manual trans in each trim and configuration.

They do... you just have to cross border shop... theMT in ACLB OR and the DCSB Sport is available in Canada while the ACLB Sport and the DCSB OR is available in the US. The SR and SR5 no longer have the MT option.. no MT in Limited, ever and the Pro is available in MT... so... ultimately if you are looking for MT then configuration will be what limits you... not model.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter what model or trim you choose... with some electronic gizmo exceptions... these trucks are so pliable that I liken them to Lego. If you don’t like something specific, then unbolt that part and bolt on the one you like. The factory and aftermarket for these vehicles is huge with so many options to fit anyone's tastes, desires or wallet. From mild to wild...

the infighting is just for amusement. Please... keep up the good work:thumbsup:

    Agreed!

As long as WE are happy with our purchase, nothing else matters.

Not unless you can provide a Pro VIN, photos, and a fecal sample. No foil hat for you pal. You are banned from the parts counter for one year.

Every automaker is trying to get rid of us MT folks. We tend to buy vehicles and keep them for years instead of constantly buying new shit and being in debt forever.

They really should of kept in the SR for us dirt bags. Plus rubber flooring and vinyl seats. I run down dirt roads at least once/twice a week so much easier to clean and looks better over time.

I like the ACLB, while I can certainly afford upper trims, doesn’t mean I want pay for it. Seem silly to buy a Sport for the manual. Bunch of stuff on the Sport that I do want or need. Didn’t care for I couldn’t do the rear seat delete on the SR V6, only in the 4. Could of saved $1700, but oh well.

Really don’t care for how Toyota specs their vehicles, it is what it is. The sport sedan crowd has ruined the basic pickup.

    That's too funny!

It elevates your reply and lifts it higher away from your signature/line cut-off.

Lol! Oh I am, constantly in the dirt and dragging it in the truck. A more basic truck would fit my needs better since I am pretty hard on interiors.
