AR10 BS Thread

Just got email from Aero they received the upper and have begun to inspect. Not sure how it took a week to go from AZ to WA but fed ex gonna fed ex just glad it got there

 

Hell anytime I order anything from them it takes me 2 weeks for it to actually ship

 

Cuz @gixxerphil buys them out

 

I got notice this evening they shipped my order so hpefully next week

 

I haven't bought anything in a while

 

Need to fix that

Anyone have fitment issues with a PA10 Gen 3 upper going on a non-PSA lower? I've tried it on two different lowers and I have 2 issues:
1. There is some minor interference with the forward pivot being too large to allow the upper to actually pivot before it contacts the lower receiver. (I don't mind removing some material here so this is more of a minor inconvenience than anything.)
2. This concerns me a bit more: the upper will not fully seat in the lower before the charging handle contacts the the receiver. Almost as if the upper wants to sit deeper in the lower. I've tried two other charging handles and BCGs and have the same issue so I feel like the upper may not be machined to spec or is using some proprietary measurements (although I didn't see anything specific on PSAs website). Emailed PSA and waiting to hear back but wondering if anyone here has seen anything like this.

Lower 1: Aero

This is where the forward pivot contacts the lower.



This is as far as the upper will rotate before it contacts the lower.


This is as far as the upper will seat into the lower before the charging handle contacts the buffer tube boss. The rear take town pin isn’t in alignment and off by about 1/16”.




Lower 2:

Same interference at the forward pivot.



Slightly larger gap and misalignment at the rear takedown pin.



FYI, those PSA overmold grips are actually pretty nice for the price.

 

PSA specs are proprietary. They actually say that their ar10 parts don’t (may not) mix with other parts.

 

That’s a shame. The way it’s worded lead me to believe it’s a cosmetic issue where the “lines” of the receivers don’t match up rather than an actual fitment issue.

 

Its not just PSA.

Mixing 308 AR parts is always a crapshoot.
