Been in the Bend area for the last week. Spouse is already looking at real estate and re-evaluating budget. I’m shocked we are returning home tomorrow.

This area is great and everyone has awesome rigs!

Will for sure be looking to move here.

Haha. The weather this week is much better than we’re used to in the midwest!

We just spent the day in Redmond and no offense to that area but we’d be looking at Bend for sure.

Although shout out to Porter Brewing in Redmond for proving awesome English Ales!

Bend has treated us very well we’re walkable to everything. Paid for the SUV rental and never used it. Being walkable to everything would be huge to us.

Home right now is hot and humid. Happy to miss that shit.

We need a couple years to afford real estate. We are mortgage free right now. So stomaching real estate out here is gonna take some adjusting.

I lived in Bend for years and grew to hate it. The growth rate is ridiculous. There are a few developments in the works that will bring more than 20k residents in just the next couple years. The infrastructure in Bend is not keeping pace.

Redmond is the new escape for many folks that are looking to escape the madness in Bend (myself included).

If you are still in town, swing by Hunnel road. May just change your mind a bit.

Sounds like all he stayed was in downtown…. Wait till he sees where they kicked all those homeless too. That being said if you can afford to live downtown it is a nice place to be

Downtown or NW Crossing. Either is going to be a shit show in a couple of years once they build the 10k+ homes they've proposed. Initial estimates were 25k+ homes in the next 5 years in the greater Bend area. No thanks.

I’m not going to not live in an area just due to homeless populations. Its a reality we need to deal with. Especially in most desireable areas in the West.

We were in Redmond yesterday and while I only saw downtown and the main drag off the main hwy I wasn’t impressed at all. Not what we are looking for.

I do know these areas are growing like nuts since 2020. So everything is going to change in the next decade.

Wasn't trying to get you to go to Redmond at all, I'd rather the growth stay in Bend where I don't have to deal with it.

Was only trying to get you to go to Hunnel and 2nd street to see that Bend is not only growing with new residents, but the homeless population growth is exploding even faster. The Bend/Deschutes county government coddles this group and it has really changed the landscape of the area in just the last year or two. When Oregon "legalized" (decriminalized) all drugs, it made Bend a Mecca for transient drug addicts. I don't expect it to get much better anytime soon.

Really do wish the best. Good luck with your purchase and relocation. Hit up the group when you get settled.

Many people have mentioned it and I saw a bit of it while I was there. Doesnt scare me away.

What do you all do for work out here? Especially to afford the real estate?

I’ve only lived in areas where my homes have been under $200k so this $1M shit is new to me lol.

I work for the general contractor that is building books of faces in Prineville. $1M is new in the last few years. Median price for Bend in 2020 was around $450k. It's currently sitting at just under $800k. I was fortunate to purchase for $500k in 2020 so my mortgage isn't crazy. We put offers in on at least 10 homes prior to our purchase and just got over bid by cash offers. With Covid, many Californians realized they could sell their million dollar home down there and work remote up here. Almost imossible to compete with all the cash offers. I really cannot imagine trying to purchase in this climate, especially with interest rates the way they are...
