    If anyone in here digs into ballistics, the Russian military has gone to the 100 variants of the AK chambered in 545x39, being more comparable to the 556 in ballistics and loadout weight. That being said, if you already own a 556 it's not really worth it to get a 545. However, if you're into the classic AK and looking for 762x39 it's fine. The 123gr bullet tends to under perform in comparison.

    That all said, a classic akm in 762 is a classic and cost friendly platform.

    I built an AK back when Romy kits were cheap and available. It's my least favorite rifle to shoot, probably only put a few hundred rounds through it and haven't touched it in 10 years. It is cool though and I'd never sell, just no appeal over the AR.
