Until 2007, all of the songs on my iPod came from CDs; Between the three of us, my parents have quite a collection of CDs, but nothing beats being able to have 1,500+ songs at your fingertips. Also, I haven't listened to CDs regularly since probably 2012. My truck had a basic AUX input from the factory and I made do with that for more than three years but the quality sucked.

I'm about 1500 discs. I have a huge bookshelf taller than 6 feet with racks that hold about 30-35 each. I do have them in some semblance of alphabetical order, A-B-C and so forth

Sonetimes I listen to AM Radio, lol. Actually saw a story about new F-150s still having large antennas and Ford explained that the majority of the buyers listen to AM radio and the large antenna gives the best reception.

There is alot of good talk radio on, little better way to keep up on things instead of mainstream media.

That is true for AM, the longer the antenna the better the reception. Remember the older cars with the extendable antenna?

As a kid I had an old tube AM radio with a wire between the house and garage for an antenna. I would tinker with that for hours at night listening to stations sometimes 1000 miles away.

    Edit:
I just checked the 66 Ford, the antenna extends to 57 inches, almost double a modern FM car antenna.

Wow that sounds like a healthy antenna on the old Ford.

Would that same antenna work with a modern FM radio and pick up FM stations 1,000 miles away?

Is it safe to "top off" power steering fluid?

All the old cars from the AM era had the extending antennas. For AM longer is better. When FM became more popular the standard 31" antenna became common.

An FM signal is physically about 10' so a 10' antenna would match the wave perfectly, obviously that large of an antenna on a vehicle would be impractical. The reduced size antenna will be most effective if it is a full fraction of the wave size so the what is called a 1/4 wave antenna is used.

If you measure the windshield antenna used in the 1970's GM vehicles or that cheap plastic "T" antenna that comes with a home stereo you will find the length to be about 31" also.

No. Under ideal conditions FM is limited to about 100 miles over clear terrain and that usually requires a directional antenna. For practical real world use if you can pull an FM station from 50 miles that is really good.

Take a paper towel and clean the rubber seal on the underside of the cap and top up the fluid with whatever is called for in the manual.

Why isn't that engine compartment as clean as the outside of the truck?? :boink: ;)

I'm working on it; That grime is a lot tougher to get through than it looks.
