    I think there's something to that..perhaps too the risk/reward balance to the thief.

    Good thought I suppose..I do think in some cases the punishment is the deterrent for many, though you'll always get the occasional screwball.

    Curious though, when you mention harshness..do you mean the physical type of punishment or in general (more jail time or something)?

    I think your point re the police force being more professional is another reason too.

    That sucks sorry for your loss. Im super paranoid just because I know if its stolen I would have to start all over with another one. I lock the keyfob from transmission by pressing lock and holding it while pressing unlock twice. This has become muscle memory and i do it every time i walk away. I also use a brake pedal club along with a faraday bag for my fob. Didnt really want to install an alarm but now I will. I didnt know the rear doors dont trigger. Good thing im an old car stereo installer and still have contacts. Ill pick up a paging alarm from my local wholesaler this weekend.

    The “harshness” could be anything…length of sentence, conditions at the prison, caning vice just a prison stay, etc.
