I am done with Full size trucks and so naturally, the Tacoma came up. I have to have 4x4 and am looking for a Pro or Off-Road. Obviously the market is crazy right now. Being that I won't be going major off-roading (rock climbing, river forging, mudding, etc.) would a Sport be fine? Are there any tunes or mods to start looking at to get a little bit better acceleration out of the motor? Any things/options that are a must, or useless? Any information will be helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

    A bunch..and no build thread!
    Welcome to TW.

Whatever you find can be made into anything you want, it all depends on how much you are willing to spend! Plenty of tunes out there that can help the truck out.

Great things about these trucks is the platform lends itself very well to mods and it's a pretty easy truck to work on. The aftermarket support for the 3rd Gen is huge.

    Oh look, another mod....

Welcome to Tacoma World. A sport model will do ya' just fine and are a bit cheaper in price than the OffRoad & Pro models. You can either get a KV Tune that is done by some of the local members here or you can choose a plug-n-play option like Sprint Booster or Pedal Commander.

The two absolutely useless mods to stay away from: Cold air intake upgrades and adding raptor lights to your front front grill. The CAI comes stock with the truck, so no need to change it up or upgrade it. The lights? Well, they just look dumb. You're not driving a Ford; so don't put "Raptor" lights on it.

Good luck with finding the truck you want and we hope to see pictures of her soon!

Welcome to TW. If you visit your local Toyota dealership make sure you bring your lube and get ready to bend over. I have a sport and I love it but I bought it a year ago before the market went nuts. Paid $2,500 below MSRP. The only good part is your trade-in will be worth a lot more too.

Welcome. While I luv my truck it is a SR5 it is the 4 cyl . It has enough get up and go and gets reasonable mileage 20-24. You’ll want to get it tuned if you’re driving it long distance as the hunting for gears will drive you crazy. This is my second Tacoma (first 6cyl TRD)and it is a great little truck. Good for runs to the lumber yard or big box stores. I have a hard 3 piece hard cover so I put my clubs in lock the tailgate and they are relatively safe and dry. Which ever Tacoma you pick you will enjoy having a reliable truck. Good luck

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

All models are quite capable in stock form for general purpose 4 wheel drive jobs like hunting or camping.
    Aftermarket support is huge.

If you do find a truck to purchase I suggest just driving it for a while, eventually you will learn what needs to be changed to better meet your needs. Often just a tire upgrade is all that is needed.

And stay off this forum -- we just want to help you :spending:!
Official TW motto: The most expensive one is the best one!

Seriously, lots of great folks and information here, welcome.
