Clutch Pedal Permanent squeak fix

I saw this mod on here and decided to take it a step further by replacing all the plastic bushings with bronze. Them plastic bushings keep failing on me and there like $4.00ea at the stealership so I decided to make this a permanent fix. Here is what it looks like so far Im planning on also doing the pivot point ont the pedal shaft.








Cost me About $7.00 to replace all the bushings and took about 30min to make them fit right. Let me know what you think I was also planning on making a write up but its pretty much straight forward.

 

let us know if that is good fix. i just noticed my clutch pedal doing the same thing.

I saw that original post ages ago about the center bronze bushing. But I still have not had time to do it.

Where did you get the side bushings? Or, more importantly, what size/type did you start witi, and how much did you have to machine/grind/file/drill them inside or outside?

If I ever do this, I just want to have everything ready to go once I tear it apart, because my truck is a daily driver...

I'm not so sure the center bushing is gonna last either. Check it from time to time. If its thinner at the pressure point, it could crack and fall apart/brittle. I only say that because I'm exposed to and use those types of bushings at work.

Tacomaki was the poster who came up with the center bushing idea, and a while ago, he said 10K miles with no problems...but then I have no idea how long the OEM plastic bushings last...

The other three bushings are 1/4 x 3/8 x 15/32 x 1/2, I just used a dremel on the bushing and used the sandpaper attachment and sanded down the outside part of the bushing. I did this little by little test fitting to make it a little snug. Then I used the cut off wheel to make them shorter when I had them flush and seated. Also its a good idea to put white lithium grease to make the metal to metal contact from the spring to the bushing wear less.

 

Where did you get the bushings?

 

I bought them from Ace hardware

 

that spring is pretty much useless.
