Here's the deal. Right now I have 3 kids that fit just fine in my 05 DC. Low and behold, we're expecting....again. Now I need to find something with room for all of our stuff (double stroller maybe with groceries, car seats/booster seats). We looked at the Sienna yesterday and the wife was digging it. I think she gets some small satisfaction out of it too that I have to get rid of the truck as well. While the van did have quite impressive room and amenities I'd still rather the 4Runner (which I had her set on before we found out; even the Trail) or the very least a Highlander. It's like I've got no opinion at all here no that we've seen the minivan but I'd like some of your thoughts. Either way we're selling my Taco and her accord but I was wondering if anyone had any personal experiences. Should I suck it up a while a do the minivan, or keep trying for the 4Runner? Either way, eventually I would get a 4Runner since we'd only have one vehicle. It's just sad coming to the realization that I won't have the truck anymore but later on down the line I see a Trail 4Runner but I think I may have to do the minivan for right now.

Let the Wifey get what she wants. And get yourself a used 1st Gen or toyota pick up for yourself. That's what I would do if I had to get rid of my beloved Tacoma.

Getting the mini van rite now would be like taking one for the team (your family). At your age you will have plenty of time for toys in the future but for now you and your clan will need to get around together. Not to mention you'll start schleppin their friends around too. You'll be glad you have it.

I got rid of a 4 Runner and purchased a Honda Odessey with just two kids, primarily for the wifee to schlep kids around. I ended getting an inexpesive truck.

Now, the kids are 15 and 11, we still have the van and I have the Taco which I bought two years ago. Considering selling the van for something smaller. Crazy thing is that last night I had my 15 year old and 5 11 year old's packed in the Taco :D

How many seats does the minivan have compared to a 4Runner?

Congrats on the 4th child! Having lots of kids is the way to go. I have 1 sister and 2 Brothers, growing up there was always someone there to play/hangout with.

damn man. I dont even want to vote for this. Its kinda a shitty predicament. I guess you could try to get a good deal on the minivan and buy a cheap 4runner?

I rode 5 in a 4runner the other day. Not comfortable. But, doable.

You can't beat a van for moving people.

That newer toyota and the new honda are pretty cool. Almost gangster.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
I voted 4Runner because that is what my heart says, but my head says mini-van. What about skipping the mini part and go straight for:

See below for the argument it creates with the wife about me not sacrificing for the fam. :(

Impressive! And you're absolutely correct about taking it for the team which is just a small price to pay and eventually we could get other vehicles when they grow up. Two vehicles at the moment is just not happening unfortunately. Now if I get this job (fingers crossed) then it'll be easier to do.

Thanks! The 4Runner does 7 but it would be tight with all their stuff. Van can do 8 but lots of storage plus roof racks! lol

I could try that! Decent option!

If I were the mom here I'd probably want the 4Runner, because they look cool, so I voted 4Runner. But, you know, minivans have gotten way cooler in the last 10-15 years, and have a ton of amenities these days. Some have damn good acceleration too. Plus, I'm an only child so 4 kids is way outside my reality and I can't imagine it . . .

If your wife, bless her, if going to be the one doing most of the child transporting, I'd leave the decision to her. Nothing personal, but having 4 kids is a life decision that's going to demand some compromise - that's a lot of butts in seats! ;) You may feel like you have no opinion at all, but if your home is like the "average" home, your wife will need the vehicle to accommodate her needs more than yours on a day-to-day basis.

Congrats on the new addition to the family, by the way. And, if you end up with the van, you may end up liking it more than you think you will. They've come a LONG way.

Ha ha take it with the guy that had been there... Trade her accord for minivan keep truck. :D 4runner will not solve anything, you can not fit 4 kids there. Since you always goign to need two cars accord for minivan because she is not going to fit 4 car seats in accord anyway. You always going to need two cars that can fit one adult and all kids
