Remember when

Maybe this was more local to MA and RI. They sell the "Chicago style" hotdogs. They used to have locations all over the place, and in some mall food courts.

 

I remember riding my bike to the small independent "Supermarket" grocery store about a half-mile from our house for my mother to buy 2 or 3 pounds of the "good" ground meat... for $0.29 a pound. I remember one time I lost a $5 bill on the way there... that was a LOT of money at the time.

 

What was the name of it?

 

Spikes Junkyard Dogs. (We just called it Spikes)

 

Ahhh, yeah never seen one of those

 

Remember when you could/did ride back of trucks...

 

That was my Mom’s cigarette money for almost a whole month. $0.25 a pack.

 

All I remember the MAD magazine satire of the show & Anita Bryant (new landlord parody) was at the last panel holding a whip with a sneer "there's going to be some changes around here"... So if anybody started acting weird, we pretended to make a whip crack!

Gas used to be .93/gallon for 87 octane when I was driving my first Toyota.

Oh yeah, and mine was from a few years before they started calling them Tacoma's, when Toyota trucks were just called truck..

 

I wonder how much regular (leaded) was going for... The photo misses the upper price-tag.

 

Wasn't leaded cheaper because it was easier to produce?

Lafayette receiver... there used to be a Lafayette Radio Electronics store in New Orleans in the 1960's. My first 7" open reel tape recorder came from there, as well as a few other things.
