Remote Wire for Amp on 2020 tacoma

Those of you who installed an amp where did you wire the remote wire to? I have a 2020 and this is my first time wiring so I'm curious where to put the amp remote turn-on wire goes? I heard some people wire it to the head unit somehow but if someone can explain especially for the new 2020 head units that would be great! Thanks!

 

Pretty sure I used a harness I got off Amazon.

 

Yeah that harness is only for the 2019's or under I heard people tried it and didn't work with the 2020s but I bought one off of Taco tunes but I don't think it has the thing for the remote wire

 

Search forum, i think its the small grey wire on the main harness of the radio.

 

Can anyone confirm the best wire to splice into for an amp remote signal? I've seen many mentioning a gray wire, but they all say "should be". Can someone confirm for sure? Pleeeeeaase My other option is to use the

$92 Audio Control LC2i 2 Channel Line Out Converter with AccuBASS and Subwoofer Control

Audio Control LC2i to send a wake-up signal for my two amps I guess. I believe the LC2i uses the Speaker signal to wake up and has a "remote out" that I can use. Thank you

I just used an add a fuse and used the power outlet position on the under dash fuse panel. Works perfectly and I didn't have to splice into anything.

 

On my 2017 Premium non JBL, there were 2 outputs on the back of the deck, one 12V, one 5V. Both were switched to deck power. I used the 12V to power the remote turn on to both of my amps. Although neither amp needed it, they had speaker level remote turn capability.

If you use a multimeter, you may find you have similar line outs...

 

Find the blue wire on the radio adapter harness labeled “power antenna” . Thats the remote turn on lead for an amplifier.

i suggest verifying the wire with a volt meter yourself. i've had numerous cars in the past that are different than the 'official/established' wiring colors for a few pins for reasons that are beyond me.

Yeah something like that is ideal, or tapping into the cig lighter wire

 

I added a kicker amp to run a couple 6x9's in my rear doors and it didn't require a remote lead. I used the factory speaker wires as the input. On the speaker level input it automatically turns the amp on. I installed many stereos in the late 80's early 90's and it was a bonus not to have to tear the dash apart.

 

Not sure WTF this means, if you are just being funny, or trying to be an A-hole, but regardless you have failed at both I am afraid. When I asked for somebody to confirm, I meant someone that has actually done it and not someone that heard from someone else that it "should". Regardless, thanks for the input and I will consider checking the voltage but I believe others have suggested some good solutions that I will try first. thanks you

 

Here you go sir. I think I will try the add a fuse way @joeypdx , I think that should be a lot easier but I will be interested to know which wire should we use (if you already know) for personal knowledge

 

Yeah, I have that option too, just never tried it and was a bit skeptical about it. I'm an old school guy and have always used the "remote amp" during installs. I think I will run the remote wire and just leave it under the dash, tucked away as a backup in case the Speaker Remote turn-on doesn't work for whatever reason. Thanks!

 

As a future reference, it’s one of these two grey wires. I’d have to find the diagram to know for sure. Then always test it with a meter before you start splicing
