More like quadruple that. Last time I checked you had to replace all 3 panels on the rear glass as no one had a real option to replace just one. $1200 to $1600 is a more realistic price IF you have to replace all three.

    “How many dollars?”

A fist full! Check local junk yards before you commit. There is a local place in San Diego that takes windshields from wrecked vehicles and swapped my wife’s 2011 Camry front windshield for $125. Since the tint is holding it together you don’t need to be in a huge rush, right?

Might be getting too old for this.
Opinions and all...they are most likely to have the exact glass and trim on hand, will get you fixed within 24hrs of contact, and will perform a factory quality install. Roll the dice with another shop and potentially get what you pay for.

Try and get an indy to do it. Safelite is pricey. And a lot of times they’re mobile as well. Some asshole knocked out a window on our work van and found an indy to do it for hundred less.

...I busted the same window 3 years ago, I still find pieces of glass whenever I vacuum my car. Safelite replaced a single panel, I'm not sure how much it cost because I filed a claim with my insurance($0 deductible). Check your insurance if you have a low comp deductible it may be worth filing a claim.

That's what I'm thinking hearing these $1,500+ quotes. Did your rates go up?

After riding with a broken back window for almost a year, I decided to have it fixed. Evidently you need to replace all 3 pieces, or put a solid one piece in. Got a few $700-$1000 quotes. To my surprise when I called State Farm to inquire about any coverage , they said I had full coverage and zero deductible.
They facilitated installation with Safelite and it was done a week later.

Remember to specify OEM, Ive seen the aftermarket slider option and it looked like something pulled from a 1970’s motor home. Fit and finish was questionable, the hardware was just cheap and weird. Always go with OEM glass.
The entire time I rode around with a taped up window and getting several quotes was for nothing. I should have called my insurance co first.

Nope. Its been about 11 mos since I made that claim and my rate has actually gone down $8 dollars/monthly since then. I was so worried Id get an increase especially since the broken window was my fault , but nothing happened. Full comp/collision coverage thru State Farm and Im in Ct.

If you go the insurance route, glass breakage should fall under your comprehensive coverage. Thus this should not affect your rate unless you are routinely making comp claims. But as with anything these days, YMMV.

    it's a bit like grainger.

if you need it, they stock it, but warehousing everything and immediate shipping don't come cheap!

Glass damage only is comp, should not affect policy. Depending on policy and state guidelines it may be free. Usually it is the windshield that is free, but can’t hurt to check.

Edit, the back glass it not urethaned in (I think) So used is a great option.
