Pro comp lift...

Ok so looking at procomp 3" suspension because I can't afford much more. I know it's not a very good lift and rough ride because the coils have a 700 pound spring rate. My question will adding a heavy bumper like arb with this lift on a double cab help smooth out the ride ? Or is that too much for procomp shocks? I dont know what ome 886 are but I imagine they are around 650lbs. Any input is appreciated

EDIT: I have decided against the bumper, so now this thread is open to anyone with the pro comp 3" lift who wants to share their experiences.

 

i have the 3 inch lift....i like mine alot but the ride is a little rough but nothing major.

 

You don't sound so excited about the lift. How much is it?

You can get bilstein 5100's for the front and an AAL for the rear for about $300.

X2, and if you wanted OME 885/886 springs, they are only $160 more for a good combo.

 

I think the Pro Comp is around $450-500.
Like the 5100s, but I would rather a complete 3" lift.

 

Bliten 5100's go up to 3' and in the back just AAL

 

You can get a thin a 1/2" top plate spacer on the billys. They are like $20.

However, if you go over 2.5" of lift, you will likely need new UCA's to get your alignment right.

I dont dislike i got procomp too, but blisten5100's are cheaper and just the better way to go

But is that too much preload. I am pretty sure they do not reccomend running top plate spacer with billies.

Top plate spacers do not preload the spring.

They don't recommend running a thin top plate spacer on them because it will get you over 2.5" of lift, which will require new UCA's.

 

Here's an option:

Bilstein 5100's for all 4 corners - ($300 from Downsouthmotorsports)
2" (or 1.5, depending on if you have the rear spring TSB) - $80
OME 885 front springs - $160

Total is $540 and you have a good lift for the money. I bet the Procomp would work fine, but from everybody I've talked to the ride has been very rough.

Exactly why I am asking if adding 200lbs of front weight with a bumper would help. My buddy has this lift and it is rough but he has an extended cab. Alot of people say its rough, but they running it on an extended cab, which is lighter than a double cab. So I am wondering if combined weight of double cab and bumper would help with the ride.

 

The way I see it: Every truck is different and requires certain springs. Compare OME 884,885, and 886. 884 is for lighter extended cab, 885 is for the 100lbs of extra weight of double cab, and 886 is for 150lbs of bumper,winch etc. I really need to compare coil spring rates. Any one have the numbers....chris4x4, where are you?
