had one.

been on my truck 2 years. the first winter the tumblers seized up and you could use anything to lock and unlock it (i used pennies, nail heads, any key on my keyring). i was fine with that since most people wouldnt think to jam a penny in it and turn it. two days ago i went to lock it and it locked no problem. yesterday i went to unlock it and the damn thing broke. the keyed tumbler inside broke and just spun around.

had to tear my tailgate apart to get the damn thing off

 

you should be ok in your area. its the roadsalt up here that ruined it

That would not be a good thing if one has a locking tonneau on their truck or needs the tail gate down to open

 

the powder coat on mine flaked off in less then a year

 

would putting graphite in it help? or spray with a rust preventative spray?

 

ya i had my tonneau cover down and the tailgate locked. its very easy to get into the bed when a tonneau cover is on it

just needed a stick lol

 

i was using graphite spray on mine but it was full of salt. almost need to make a keyhole cover for it to try and seal the salt out of it

 

I had a hard time operating mine. I took the tailgate apart and used Lucas Red and Tacky on all the moving parts and pivot points. It is still operating smooth after a year.

 

hmmmm might have to do that to mine.... just in case. Thanks Tom Does wally world sell that or an auto part store?
