Used my new M12 pin nailer (with 3.0) on some 1/4" thick cedar planking for a closet lining installation. Worked flawlessly. Had to test several scraps to get the depth just right. I think there are 30 stops on the depth adjustment knob...so plenty of options for various depths. Ended up getting 16 courses installed (24 to ceiling). Battery was still showing 4 bars.

If you use the 2.0 it can stand upright, although it does have pretty good rubber pads on the side to protect the floor.

Yes, but I don't own a 2.0. I only have a 1.5 and didn't want to risk it killing the battery. I may try it for the remaining courses to test the performance.

I still own my 9 year old brushed entry level m18 non fuel drill and impact driver, I bought the m12 fuel second gen drill and impact driver for work(mechanic) and the m12 fuel definatly out performs the m18 non fuel. That said the non fuel m18 works just fine for around the house projects but when I have a project that'll be more then say 30 holes/screws I bring the m12 home to use. The reduced weight is very very nice. Now my brother who does general contracting work has the newest m18 fuel drill and impact driver and it completely blows away my m12 fuel ones but its also like three times as heavy.
Since your gonna be doing a lot of house renovation I would buy the m18 fuel for drills and impact drivers for the extra power. For auto work impact wrenches the m18 1/2 high torque and m12 3/8 stubby is a awesome combo.

I've got the m18 and its basically a oversized desk fan, nice but if your over maybe six feel away your not going to feel much rushing air, its nice for under dash and under car since you can keep it within one foot away. I do really like its got the 120v adaptor for when I use it at the desk.

This one or different? I would consider this for camping for inside the tent if it’s quiet.

No Ive got this M18 one, which does goes on sale for $70 every now and then. Having never seen the M12 fan before I would bet on the low speed and with the largest battery it would run quietly all night in a 2-4 person tent.

The M12 just recently came out. I plan to buy specifically for tent use.

I’m looking to use it on the inside of cars since I’m a mechanic and interior work in summer is hell

For those of you @Sig45 considering the M18 hammer drill kit... Grab a free 6 1/2" circular saw while you're at it!:hungry:

Or a cut-off grinder, or another 5.0ah battery! :goingcrazy:

Does anyone know why this exists, seems like two different levels of the 1/4" FUEL M12 Impact Driver with almost identical specs.

It looks like a Gen1 vs Gen2 of the same tool?

    From a review I found:
    ¼” Hex Impact Driver
The most obvious difference between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 is size. Milwaukee took around an inch off of the length of the Gen 2 and also removed close to 0.2 pounds. Gen 2 also got an upgrade in max RPM (2650 vs. 3300) and torque (1,000 in/lbs vs. 1,300 in/lbs).

Gen 2 also added two more mode options, for a total of four, whereas Gen 1 only had two speed options. Now with 3 different speeds and an additional self-tapping screw mode, Gen 2 gives you more control for different applications. The self-tapping screw mode starts slow to keep the screw from walking, then ramps up to full speed, and eases up again after the screw sets to reduce overdriving.

In total, you’re getting a smaller, lighter, more powerful impact driver as compared to the previous version.

Picked up that impact wrench kit today, the wrench is pretty handy for what I need it for but I'm not terribly impressed with the m12 inflator. It all came in one box, is returning the inflator alone even an option?

if it came in one box, probably not. Check your receipt/invoice/whatever to see if its a line item, and if it has "return value" attached to it.

FWIW, the m12 inflator has come in handy for me a ton. I don't have a garage, so no ability to store a compressor of any kind. Its been pretty helpful to check and top off my truck tires. Its loud, and not impressively fast, but it can take my tires up like 4-5 PSI when needed. If you got for free or cheap as part of a kit, I'd keep it, and just use it on the road or whatever, keep it as a back up, etc, or just try selling it for relatively cheap.
