You're a good old southern boy, I am a hillbilly hick from the mountains of central PA, around here everybody has stacks on their trucks, I don't feel alone and outta place anymore, so we understand each other
I kinda like the black over the chrome too, makes it look bad!
I admit I am a little afraid to cut a hole thru my truck bed and worried about the plastic bed liner being melted, but I can install a chrome pipe collar the same thats used on the sewer pipe in my bathroom.

My opinion? Neither! I think that stacks on pickup trucks are stupid.

But hey, its your truck, do what you will with it. I've got a white DC, and I think black accessories look better than silver/chrome/bright aluminum accents....

Unless you're puttin' em' on a diesel that tows alot to keep soot off of the trailer, which is what they're for.

Only if you have a really sooty diesel, and the type of trailer you are towing. A big 5th wheel? Most of the stacks I've seen wouldn't even get the exhaust half way up the trailer. Also, most states are cracking down on sooty diesel exhaust now too. WA does a "snap test" to test for exhaust opacity. Too much, and you don't get your tabs renewed.

Although, I did enjoy my Cummins 12V (long gone) with the fueling plate in it: Smoke screen on demand!! The X5? I can't make this thing smoke at all (probably because of the DEF and particulate filter....)

I say black. Remember, the rule of thumb for stacks is to be as subtle as possible.

The license plate says "Stacks". Just having the stacks is not obvious enough....the licence plate brings it all together.....

I'm joking by the way. I can't imagine any mod that would look worse on a Tacoma than stacks.

If it is purely for aesthetics.....may as well get fake ones so you can unring that bell at trade time. Either way they are fake because they do not provide ANY useful benefit,

Weelllll I haven't posted on here in quite some time but I feel the dire need to chime in. I'd just go with "under bed" kind of stacks, the kind that run parallel to the ground and don't typically come on a Peterbuilt.
