I need to get one of those. They also make the bladder for katadyn b-free water filters and these should have the same diameter to fit. Mine b-free bladder has sprung a leak.

I used halo for a few years. They were pretty worthless. They would become saturated within about half an hour or less and sweat would just leach around the rubber strip and drip in my eyes as if it the strip wasn't there. I had to bring 3 of them on each ride, one to wear, and two in reserve. When one got saturated I'd wring it out and hang off my bag to dry. You couldn't re-use them until they were dry, or they'd saturate even faster. The rubber strip also seems to work for some better than others. For me it didn't seem to mold to my forehead well enough to drain sweat to the sides. Of course it did still leave the trademark line across my forehead after wearing it.

I tried another product called Sweat guttr. It was a failure as well. Sweat just poured right over or under it.

I made do with halos until I found Sweat buster on mtbr. I have never gone back. It holds about 10x the sweat as a halo. When it does eventually start dripping in your eye, wring it out and it is good again for a while. It actually works almost as well as when dry, so you don't need to carry extras (sometimes I still do when it's cold out). It doesn't solve the issue of getting sunburnt through your helmet vents. I just put a bandana underneath that takes care of sunburn. Have never found that to cause overheating FWIW, same with the skullcap style halo versions.

Neither halo or sweat buster is a huge investment. If you sweat "a lot" halo might work for you. If you sweat A LOT it probably won't. In that case sweat buster is your solution. The guy has a website www.traxfactory.com or you can find them on Amazon.

    hahah. Are you sitting down?

15 bucks. a night. per vehicle.

I get it, there is trash service and porta potty's but....still. :/ Wish it wasn't loved to death that they needed to put those items in to service the folks who don't pack their trash out or relieve themselves appropriately.

Gonna make planning some Moab trips a bit more difficult. Oh well. Other places to camp.

That actually sounds cheap to me.
In Southern California most (non hookup) state park sites run $65 a night, USFS run $35, some BLM are under $20.

This is exactly what I did. I really only bought it for the wife to be able to move bikes. Because of the height and location she can't open the Rocky Mounts Driveshaft that I have mounted on my Diamondback cover. Bought the rack so she can use it on her SUV or even the truck if she wants. Since most of the time she will be only moving a single bike I bought the single super duty and then the add on kit for when we are both going. I leave the add on off most of the time so she doesn't complain about the weight.

I'm with @Rumpled... That's about half the price I was expecting.

There are plenty of other free areas to camp that still aren't busy at all.

I mean, it's not entirely unreasonable.

Indeed. I'll just be camping elsewhere. Oh well.

I'm one of the few that like Schwalbe Rock Razors when it's dry. It's fast and corners well. You just don't want to hit anything steep and loose with them. It's great for the Southeast but not so good out West.

so, I am head over heels in love with road biking, my fitness level is getting better, crossfit workouts are more intense, longer as well as my road rides. As much as I hate to admit, but I think im gonna sell my 2022 santa cruz chameleon. I feel bad because I rode it once on a semi paved path. and it has sat for about two months now. I think the idea of a gravel bike suits me better. I really love riding on the road ALOT! I have been riding with large groups of disabled veterans and it has been a key part of my own healing. Thoughts? should I sell it, trade it for a gravel bike? or keep it> i just hate seeing something collect dust. Space is limited since we only have a tandem garage. anyone on strava by chance, or is there a TW "official" strava?

Hahaha.....I'm not gonna lie, the carbon makes me nervous at times. I've primarily been on steel hardtails for the past few decades. So I'm used to not really caring what happens to my bikes.

Can't say whether or not you should sell the Chameleon, but I can say you should certainly try a gravel rig.

I've done a lot of gravel and CX stuff and today's gravel rigs are very versatile. I routinely run slicks on my CX bike for road use too. So you can't go wrong with a good gravel rig.

The one thing I can say is my gravel bike has really helped my endurance, but the mountain bike is a different fitness animal all together. The quick maximum effort pushes to get to the top of a technical climb are something that road or gravel biking can't touch. I can be tired after a long road/gravel ride, but a mountain bike ride can take it to a whole new level.

Agreed. I can pace myself on MTB from low intensity to high intensity fairly easily. If I'm not careful, I'll waste all my energy on the uphill. and then on the gravel rig, I can push myself fairly easily without getting too high intensity. I usually use the gravel rig to get a ride in after a hard MTB day and it helps me keep my endurance for sure. I cover a LOT more mileage on the gravel rig.

    Yeah.
I think that if you aren't going to ride it, you might as well sell it. I used to have 3 mountain bikes, a "city" bike, and a road bike I bought for winter and freeze/thaw season riding. But I hated road. I mean completely detested it. I'm a bit ADD, and genetically I am comprised of fast-twitch muscle fibers. So, it was boring and lost my attention quickly, and just wasn't the right workout for me. I like the short, punchy climbs and the fact that MTB keeps my attention and focus. But do what you love -- if you love riding the road, stick with it! I almost bought a gravel bike, but to me, gravel is too similar to road riding. I can ride my "city" bike on gravel. So, if you love road, you may like gravel as well.

I'm down to one MTB and the city bike now. I sold the others while they were still worth something.

Yea but those hardtails taught you good skills like not to heels down plow into everything. Modern carbon will put up with quite a bit of abuse as long as you keep it somewhat in the realm of trails it was intended for and don't huck it off a hillside. I miss my steel hardtail, it was an OnOne 456 evo2. I had it built up fairly beefy with a 36 140mm fork, big tires, etc. That frame had an amazing feeling once you got moving, almost like it had a couple inches of travel. Unfortunately it wasn't suited to the trails I'm riding now up here in WA. I sold it to an older gent that wanted to ride with his kid. He hit me back up a few weeks later singing accolades on how it rode. :proposetoast:
