That's a horrible idea. What time?
Question - is lug centric actually OK or is it just settling for what you want vs what you should get? I'm getting mixed results on the research and just don't have the experience / knowledge to know. I've seen comments that lug centric is ok, but you could have vibration issues. And it seems that that is a lot of stress to put on lugs. But I also can't find the wheels I really want with the right center bore. I don't know how I feel about lug centric off road either. Again stress on the lugs. Go.

I have no valid information other than my opinion. I'm not a fan of lug-centric. If the hub bore is too big there's plenty of sources for adapter rings. And any reputable wheel seller should include them as part of the installation kit.

    Which weekend, June 25th?

Only thing on my calendar is tentatively going to Wilmington, NC Jun 1-4 to see my parents and sister's family. Trying to setup a deep sea fishing trip with my BiL and our respective boys.

I don't even know which dates were talking about anymore.

On another note: $650 ball joints are not something I need. This is a correct thought?

    I don't even understand....

Background: Jeep on-road manners are concerning to me. Through lots of Googling, I believe there's some suspension/steering issues. OEM stuff doesn't last long with 35s. I'm replacing a few bits at a time. I'm starting with ball joints. And I'm looking at stuff that would hopefully last longer than OEM. I've narrowed down to Teraflex for $300 (all four) or Dynatrac for $650-ish. Big price differential. The Teraflex are just your run of the mill ball joints that are supposedly HD. They wear out, you replace them. The Dynatrac are rebuildable on the vehicle with no crazy tools, and look beefy as hell. I just don't see these benefits as worth twice what the Teraflex cost.

Dynatrac HD BallJoints for 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ)

Man, that's insane for 4 ball joints. There's a lot of other mods you can buy for $650 that are a lot more sexy.

Don't I know it. And this is only the beginning. If this doesn't help, there's more overpriced parts that might.

And I have a check engine light. Which may or may not be self-caused.

My Jeep owning experience is not starting out so great.

Don't remember off the top of my head. Something to do with the EVAP system. I relocated the canister a while ago and it was fine. Not sure what's causing this. I haven't had time to look at it other than replacing the gas cap. Did buy a smoke machine to look for leaks (and to use at parties).

Thought I had found a better ball joint solution. Spicer makes upgraded versions. They're more than the Teraflex at $400!

Solid axle life, to be funny.

Being serious.. I have yet to see or feel the (that I know of) flighty front end. Could be me too, as Sometimes I think the way something drives it’s just what it is. At the same time… I haven’t driven another heep to see if mine is different or not.

Bring the smoke machine to Chris' next time, that would be a hoot. The neighbors might think we're doing a controlled burn.

It's nice and it's not. It help keep most pricing reasonable. But I hate wading through all the options trying to figure out what's the best choice for me. And then there's the forums....

So. There may not be a problem at all. It could just be the way it is. My diagnosis isn't based on good information. The Jeep wanders pretty badly on the road. I recognize that it could just be normal solid axle, recirculating ball fun. I have nothing to compare it to. It's been a very long time since my last solid axle vehicle. I could go and shake the tire all over and see if there's any movement, but I read a ton of reviews of folks replacing steering/suspension stuff saying there was no obvious problem, but the part made everything amazing (subjective, of course). My other piece of information is that a lot of these same reviews are stating their mileage and it's about the same as mine. And lastly, the stock stuff is just not rated to be yanking 35s all over. Not very scientific, but it's what I have. The best part is that every piece of steering/suspension upgrades I look at has reviews that say the part fixed their wandering front end. Perfect. I look at it this way: it can't hurt to replace any of it. It's heavier duty then OEM and could keep Chris from having to weld me up something from sticks and leaves.

It burns baby oil. And I'll just leave that at that.
