You can definitely get it done solo. A lot easier if you have a creeper. Laid mine on my chest, rolled under truck and started with the furthest bolts back. Get them started and then all you gotta do is balance and lift up the front. Thankfully, Toyota used stay-washers (clips) on all the skid plate hardware… so all the bolts are in place ready as you go!

No worries. The 3rd gen 4runners are notorious for their weak front brakes. Toyota changed the calipers and rotor thickness in the 1st gen Tacos because of it but the 4runners went into the 4th generation so they got better brakes and the fatal LBJ design was fixed. I've tried to avoid doing the brake conversion over the years by using better quality rotors and pads but I'm just pissing uphill, there's only 1 way to "fix" this right and that's to adapt the big Tundra brakes. It will help me when I go back to Colorado and when I lug the trailer full of fire wood.

+1 CAN confirm. I’m coming up on 5 years (in July) with OEM pads & rotors and they work, well, but I can definitely see a benefit coming from the TBU. I currently have new Brembo rotors and Hawk performance pads sitting in the house awaiting installation, and they definitely have to be done before we head down to the OBX in August.

Morning everyone! Took my dad and bother out for a fishing charter yesterday for some black sea bass out of Ocean City. Caught limit of 15 per man (90 total) in just a few hours. Also pulled up a few bluefins on the beach on Sunday

Soon I need to put in my front diff with the 4.58 gears so I can put my truck in 4 wheel again. Been busy with work and other projects. Swapped my front OME suspension for some second hand Fox 2.0 coilovers. Haven’t had a chance to dial them in yet, but I will tell you what a difference in ride quality they are. A huge improvement in comfort and flex. I plan on selling the OME nitrochargers with 882 coils as soon as I dial in the Fox’s.

Always some thing fun to do!

    Excellent information! Information is power!

Here's what I know. You can't put Tacoma wheels and tires on a 4Runner.
