The only advice my dad has for me is to stay at the same job my entire life and it'll work out

That's what we like to call bad advice. You're unlikely to get a tangible increase in wages (barring some jobs) without leaving and finding a new job (of course negotiating proper pay intitially). To move up in pay these days you have to move employers too. It sucks

Yeah, that's important too, but you still have to be able to make a living off it. Otherwise you're working multiple jobs and you're likely to encounter burnout. I'm still right at the line where my job is viable... This year I get $1.70 raise and a couple bonuses. If it wasn't for the fact that my boss and the other management are excellent and I like my job, this wouldn't hardly be something I could continue to do.

lot of people stay at government jobs even though the pay isn't always great because they do offer good benefits. Benefits is where a lot of employers tend to fall short

@Sperrunner you guys feeling the baby formula shortage at all? Every store I go to these days the shelves are practically empty, makes me glad we don't rely on it like we used to a year or two ago.

That's my case, my retirement is excellent, healthcare is very good and low monthly, dental and vision are zero out of pocket and less than $10 a paycheck, and I have life insurance even with zero out of paycheck.

Yeah that's one area I wish I had it better with. We didn't have any retirement offered until a couple years ago, and it's just a 401k with no employer contribution. Healthcare/dental is alright (for me), but if I wanted to add my wife or daughter I would have to have several hundred dollars a month taken from my pay for them to be put on (each). So they both have healthcare through our state program which is a clusterfuck.

actually they have better healthcare than me, but that's because I opted for the lowest tier given that I rarely go to the doctor unless I'm convinced something is seriously wrong with me.

I think anyone viewing this thread would agree

I'm better about at least getting regular check ups done these days, until a year or so ago I probably only saw a primary care doctor once every 5 years.

Time for some artisanal box packaging lol doubt any of you guys will run into this but if you're having to cut foam you need one of these20220517_094041.jpg

This is a cut done with a razor through 2" of hard foam vs the rope cutter (hot knife)

    20220517_094021.jpg 20220517_094029.jpg

(Granted the razor cut was done with the 4'x8' sheet standing upright and not laying flat)
