I'm looking at replacing my ceiling mounted motor for a wall mounted one. The price delta is shocking and offensive!

I’m in that situation too, yard is in the awkward in-between range of where it sucks to push but can’t justify a riding mower. If it was my first and forever house I’d buy a rider but we aren’t staying here but for a few years and had a perfectly good 10 year old push mower from previous homes.

We had our Snapper push mower for about 40 years..lol.

I finally gave it to the junk man a few years back. My Dad bought it when I was a kid and would make me get out the bucket and soap and wash it like a car after every use. Thing looked pretty much new when I gave it away.

I have a Snapper Push Mower now that I have been using for 5 years and it still runs like a top....hell. I haven't even had to add oil. (My model claims that the oil never needs changing, just check that its full and go. I don't know how much I agree with that. but its worked flawless for 5 years so far. I think its a briggs & Stratton 725EXi.)

I had no choice due to the low ceiling clearance, so it was either pony up the $$$ or keep opening up the door by hand. Menard's had the one I installed was $445 shipped to my door in a couple days.

Expensive! I think I paid $150 for my lift master, but I have a high ceiling in my garage. I do like the looks of that unit though.

Yea in hindsight I shoulda just ponied up the cash and had the garage door company do it. But at the time I was trying to be on a budget (door alone was $1800) and also didn't have the electrical in. Oh yea, that would be an added expense if you don't do your own electrical. There has to be power within 6' of the unit. I had to completely wire the garage so it was no biggie for me to just shoot an outlet over in that corner.

My dads newer snapper is around 10 years old. It too had the "lifetime" oil. We bought one of those suction pump oil drain things and change it anyways. Gotta go through the fill hole hence the pump.

How's the sound level? We have screw driven old janky openers and the springs along the sides sag and I'm surprised I don't wake up the whole neighborhood when I take out the trash on Monday night.

Honestly the door makes more clanking and banging. That is the nice thing about this opener; it's super quiet!

My doors were really loud too.

I replaced the door wheels with nylon wrapped ones, and replaced the pulleys in the cable system with new ones. Still using my old springs. Smooth and quiet. I never thought I could get 20 year old doors to run so quietly.

I also changed the old screw drive for a new belt drive - that helped as well.

That did you put in the tiny gap between the window and door?

what is in the gaps between the window and door trims ?

there is horizontal channel siding between them on the horizontal siding walls and shingles on the shingle walls

the side trims are stepped and overlay the siding by 1" each side so the pieces of siding are about 4" long in there

That's all behind the door/window casings? Seems like a super tiny gap, and I was just curious.

yes , I edited my post above but you might have missed the edit . My side trims are stepped so they overlay the siding about an inch either way so the actual pieces of siding are 2" longer than the gap between the trims
