I've looked for a thread on this but I can't find one. I got an 06 with only one key. Lowe's cut a "Toyota" key for me for $3. It unlocks the doors and turns the ignition, but the car won't start -- so stock keys must have a transponder. Called my local Toyota dealer and they want $240 to cut me a spare key. That's ridiculous. I did find a website (Toyota Parts Deal) that will sell me the blank for $19.47. Does anyone have any better suggestions?

Ace Hardware has the keys and fobs available. They can program it to work properly for half of what Toyota wants.

Normally the $240 includes the programming of the transponder. If you buy the blank you can take it to a locksmith and see what they charge to cut and program it for you but it can still be pricey.
