Do you think you should just bite the bullet and get some Dana 60’s?

 

Rite rite. I don’t know what to tell yea. I do know that when mine was stock, the thing tracked straight and I kinda had to make the thing turn. After lift still tracked straight and much easier to make a turn. I do not get any of the flighty all over the road that many talk about. I do have a slight pull in the steering now to one side (forget which), but that’s from my toe being out and have yet to correct. I also added the geo-brackets a few years ago for the heck of it, and the, I spent monies so it works (placebo effect) is in play. Honestly think they helped with bumps. The only think I can think of is possibly the front or rear axle (or both) outta line/off set left and right, and your picking up imperfections in roads traveled.

 

Mine definitely doesn't track/drive like that. Swapping out for the AEV lift (it includes the geometry brackets) did make a big difference, but I have a feeling that it amplified other problems. All I can do is put parts on. I'm going to start with ball joints, and if that doesn't do it, I'll probably do the drag link and tie rod. And if THAT doesn't do, it'll be the front track bar. And the final solution is the control arms. Fun times.

And if none of that fixes it, I've upgraded the suspension to heavy duty status and the stuff I'm looking at has easily rebuildable/replaceable bushings.

Who knows when I'll get to any of this?

While on the subject: Know anyone interested in that Terflex hinge/tire carrier system? It doesn't play nice with the bumper I just put on and I'll probably unload it for a good price. I'm going to go with the tire carrier that's made for the bumper I got. It has a built-in bottle opener. I couldn't say no.

 

That is a rabbit hole I would rather not venture down. I'm just going to have to be happy with Dana 44s.

 

Haha! That rabbit hole is costly. The last time I spent in there.. front and rear 60’s on the cheep end were something like 16-18K.

edit: and that was not including new 8lug wheels

Just looked at Currie. Their built 60s with the 5x5 lug pattern and e-lockers run around $6700.

 

Chris wasn't aware, but he hired me as his personal motorcycle purchasing broker. I am happy to announce that I have found the perfect motorcycle for his needs: BiMota Tesi H2. You really out did yourself on this one Dave. I remember when bimota came out with the virus, or whatever they called it, and it had that levered front suspension. I figured they would have let it die gracefully due to the complexity and cost, but oh how wrong I was. An Italian engineered gyroscope fitted to the front of one of Japan’s most powerful sport bike engines. I’m not sure I’ll make it off my driveway alive

Nice. Was that complete hub to hub with disc brakes, And all associated shock/spring mounts? If so… that means I’m not sure what the hell I was looking at and by who.

 

Don't think it includes brakes, but I think OEM could be re-used.

Cools. Yeah, reusing knuckles and brakes. Still, waaaay more than I have to spend on something that is not getting used. Would be nice though.
