The constantly flashing LED is a stupid nice reminder. I'll sometimes take my hood off after hitting something with a grinder and forget I'm in grind mode.

Put it on a little later and it's flashing to remind me still.

I'm excited to try it out. Im probably going to waste another spool or two of that flux core just burning more holes in that busted up skid plate.

What's funny is, there are people that have welded longer than I, and they still wanted/needed me to either tell them what settings to use, or simply what technique to run etc.

I ran several V grooves, vertical up, for someone the other day.

    20220505_085255.jpg

Just get time under your belt, remember how the machine sounds and how the weld pools look, and you'll get good in no time.

    @Speedytech7

I'm thinking of having the alignment shop put 1.7 degrees of negative camber and no toe in the front of my 96 camry... the castor is where it lands so not much I can do there

For The rear I'm thinking of having them put 0 degrees of toe ... camber is where it ends up

What do you think of those numbers...

You mentioned long range shooting techniques the other day and how stability and comfort is important and my head trailed off thinking about natural body sway and consistent figure 8 might produce some quality welds.

PARKER brand hose and fittings, round these parts they make any custom hose assy you could think of if you give them the crimp fittings.... if you don't know the exact fittings necessary, taking your compressor to the dealer and forcing the counter guy to fit any and every fittings to the port until you find the right fittings will work lol

You have to cut up an M18 to 18V dewalt adapter. So I lose the latching mechanism. But then you can drill holes into the adapter and tool and use zip ties to hold them together. I figure the $12 adapter was worth keeping a few extra tools in service for a while longer.

If you're boosted and could benefit from a little better cooling system then yeah. But if stock then I don't think it's worth the money, a OE radiator doing it's job should be more than sufficient

But yeah stay away from the Champion one, lotta accounts of it cracking and leaking

Unless you're getting a custom one built for a particular boost application, there's no need.

Go with a Denso one from Rock auto or something, best bang for the buck

You're running the OE with your stock SC right?

Does that come with a new torque converter?

Yep no issues with cooling. Before I had a shop do my freeze plugs I ran consistently between 185 - 190° no matter conditions. Since then it's been 190 - 200 but I suspect they put the tstat back in upside down.

Anyway I was thinking, maybe those with the auto trans and a lot of weight or towing needs may benefit from this upgrade, I dunno. I know the auto tends to get hot under those circumstances and engine temps rise. But a tranny cooler is probably a better upgrade than an aluminum radiator

    Howdy,

Noob here. Do I need to worry much if the clutch pedal “sags” a bit? There are no issues, other than I have to pull it up with my toe in order to set the cruise.

    Exactly.

I imagine it does. When Tim and Sean replaced the trans in Sean's 4Runner it was the same - reman straight from Toyota. It had the torque converter in place.

Remanufactured but yep, shocked as well.

Just hunting for the trans. I keep thinking of how the salvage yards are up there w/today's prices. When you minus out the core charge from Toyota, its not to much more than the yard price. Considering the gamble/roll the dice as to whether or not that salvaged trans will be good, last, free from issues it is something to think about.

Still, haven't made up my mind yet. Just looked it up and figured I'd share the cost with the LT.

Oh and that is McGeorge's price. I figure I'd have to (if I decided to go that route) order from a local parts dept so I could return my 340E. That is, if they would even accept it as a core return given its not the same part#.
