285/75R17 Perfect Size on 3rd Gen

Just an update, but halfway through a tank of gas since correcting my speedo and I'm sitting exactly at 20mpg. Just as good as I was getting on my 32's. OTT for the tune. Truck drives great.

5.29's in 3 weeks.

 

I moved from 265/75s to the Kenda 35x10.5 in my MT so not a direct comparison but…there is definitely some power loss but nothing too bad, not as quick to get moving but feels great after that

 

Anybody in here running Spidertrax spacers with these tires? Been running this size for a while with a slight rub that I can live with. Wanna poke my tire out just a hair with some spacers but I don’t wanna make my rub unbearable lol

 

I have Bora 3/4” spacers, aka 19mm.

Factory lugs protrude a quarter inch or so, so your option is to either cut/grind them, or hope the hub face of your wheels have some machining pockets. I got lucky, my Methods are machined.

 

Im running TRD Pro replicas. Got any pics of your truck with the spacers on?

I cant say for 285/75/17 But I did just get 285/70/17
Stock gears no tune

My Butt dyno feels a tiny bit of loss of power and torque on the low end. After 3.5k rpm feels pretty similar. I would say its pretty a pretty negligible difference in power
That's one of the first things I was looking for after driving the new tires. (after I noticed the horrendous rubbing)

I can't tell if because I'm looking for it and I think its there I'm making it up.
At the same time I don't like to admit tacomas are slow so maybe the negligible difference is my stubbornness

didn’t have to take much off of my cmc either, the 285’s were much easier to fit then I was preparing for.. I still had to chop a small amount of plastic in the front and relocate the fender liner to a new bolt.

 

Very lucky. I used a heat gun on my plastic but I think Its best to just cut it away, do you happen to have a picture to what you bolted the fender liner to? I may have to do that in the front, and do a cmc in the back

These are from the driver side front... My painted part will look different then yours, because i trimmed a triangle out of it.

I was wondering how they fit on a 9” wheel. My 33.1x 10.5 tires only measure like 31” on 8.5” wheels. Was hoping to gain some ground clearance rather than going with 285/70/17 this time. And dont really want the power loss of 35”s.
How tall do they measure if you dont mind checking?
The wheel im looking at are available in 8.5 or 9” really not much of a difference but cant decide
