Ive never driven a manual but one of my good friends in HS owned a little manual Mini Cooper S for a while. One time he tried doing a burnout while we were going somewhere and he partly failed. He thought all the white smoke was from his tires but it was also smoke from his clutch. I kept telling him to stop because hes not just burning tires but he kept going and told me that it wasn't and to not worry. When we got to our destination and got out he realized that he was pretty much only burning his clutch and was pretty pissed. I told him that I've never driven a manual and I could tell he wasn't doing what he thought he was.

 

I can only guess neither of you knew the smell of a very hot clutch disc.

 

May be time to find a new inspection place. Dude called me at 8:30 and said it was on the lift which told me they were changing the oil.

He just called me back and paused and said I've got to do your inspection and you'll be ready, okay?

Call me when it's done with the 2 things I ask for

New guy up front, just likes to call people I reckon.

 

Or he's been told to keep the customer very well informed. I know my first boss with Fastenal wanted me to almost over communicate with the customers I dealt with.

 

Its also bad when its done and they dont call you...like you tell them to!

 

The way he hesitated, he obviously forgot about the inspection. I get it, stuff happens.

 

Nothing like calls from pesky sales people while your trying to get work done.

Then I did interact with so many sales people they tell me customers call 24 hours a day!!

 

this happened with our highlander we had. I changed the cabin filter 2 days before I took it in. They called and said it really needed a cabin filter. I told them I just changed it. When I went to pick it up the service writer told me they grabbed the filter from the wrong car I told him I wasn’t stupid and knew he was just trying to upsale things.

 

I did. He didnt I guess. It was very strong metallic smell and not even close to a burning tire smell.

 

I had my oil changed in my truck a couple times by a local shop and the shop manager brings my cabin air filter in *dramatically like its toxic filled with a few leaves and asks do you want us to change it, its 34.95. I said hold on, google---->>> Amazon....thats an 8 dollar part. Dust it off and put it back in. Last time I went there

 

Lol. Its almost like people dont think you can access anything...did you show him price?

Dang straight I showed him the price and he said well I've got to pay a guy to put a new one back in. To which I said well today you're paying him to put an old one back in because I didn't ask you to touch that. The way he brought the filter in and announced how bad I needed a new filter in front all of these people I think he expected me to be embarassed and just say send it. Wrong hombré
