Has anyone heard anything on 295's on a 3rd gen? I'm looking at going with a fox PES kit from accutune with SPC UCAs and deavers. I'm hearing that you can do it but I'm also hearing you shouldn't go above 285s. I love the look of the 295s and cant argue against more clearance. Also maybe need a new higher clearance front bumper? Obviously there will be trimming needed but outside of trimming and maybe a CMC does anyone know if that should suffice. Not a hardcore wheeler. Will be doing more in the future trails and moderate rocks nothing crazy.

    Thanks

I'm not sure about 3rd gen's but I ran 305/65/17 tires on my 2nd gen and had minimal rubbing on the cmc. The 305's are the same height as the 285/70/17 I think.

"295" is in reference to the tire width (in mm).

I used to run 295/70/17's but switched to 285/70/17's because they were much cheaper. 295's are only about Ø1/2" bigger & 3/8" wider. I didn't really notice much visual difference. This was on my 2nd gen btw. Shouldn't be any/much different for 3rd gen though.

I'm aware of that, was just being a smart ass because the OP asked for very specific info while being pretty vague on the details. I googled "295 tire size in inches" and the first hit says they are 26.1 inches in diameter lol.

How much trimming you have to do with 295s is largely going to depend on what backspacing your rims have. I ran 295/70r17 (33.23") on my 2nd gen with 4.85" backspacing wheels. At full lock, they rubbed the upper and lower control arms, and frame rail. A cab mount chop and hammering the pinch weld was necessary just to get it to this point. I'm now running 285/75r17 which is a tall skinny 34. These no longer eat the control arms, but the fender flares are a problem at full stuff
