2014 Tacoma Oil Fiter for 4.0

Hello, I have a 2014 Tacoma, after reading reviews on the Toyota oil filters, some reviews were not favorable for this filter. On my 2002 tacoma I used the Mobile 102A. And that worked fine.
But on my 2014 Tacoma, it has the 4.0 v6 engine. The books still called for the same filter I used for the smaller v6 engine. I wanted a filter that I felt would have more filtering media. After looking into this, I am now using the Mobile1
M1-209A . This is a great filter alternative.

 

The OEM YZZD3 Toyota filter has 225.9 sq. inches of media. The m1-209A filter media is the same as in the NAPA Gold 1516 filter, but only 171.5 sq. in. of filter media.

 

OEM is best. My local Walmart has them for about $7. Don't know what a dealer would charge...

 

There is a big article on TW with someone tested quite a few oil filters cut them open how many plates I’ll thick the filtration was and the Toyota OEM filter beat all of them infiltration ability

As previously mentioned, you can get them at Walmart for $6-7. I bought some at my local dealer at one point and the price was similar.

Go with OEM. I just switched a few weeks ago and swear my truck runs smoother now. Probably placebo effect, but I dunno, I expected no difference at all.

 

I am back to using the OEM YZZD3 filters myself since I can pick them up when I get oil at Wally World. Works fine, lasts a long time...

 

If I remember correctly the Toyota filter only filters up to 30 microns. I use the Fram ultra synthetic which filters up to 20 microns which is better in my eyes.

 

I go on to Amazon and find 5 or 10 packs of OEM filters sold by a dealer and am just done with it. I do this for a Tacoma, RAV4, and Corolla. It's just too easy to do it once, right.

 

Do you have a source for that info? It would be interesting to review.

 

OEMPARTSOURCE has the OEM filters for 3.63 each. Granted shipping is like $15, but if you get a bunch of filters, some wiper inserts and other things, it can make the shipping worth it.

 

I use Mobil 1 & it has worked fine for me the past 200k+ miles.

 

This aught to trigger some people. I ran the larger Fram on my 2009 back in the day...
