Favorite Whiskey?

Anyone doing Pinhook? Just started collecting their bourbon vertical series

 

Never seen it. Never even heard of it.

 

So this is actually a pretty good pour. Downside I. think retail is like $150/bottle. I paid less but still it was very pricey. Super enjoyable though. Something that’s been intriguing me for a while now.

 

I like their rye, makes a mean old fashioned

 

I’ve been wanting to find some of that. Tried a pour in a bar in Kentucky, very good stuff.

 

That’s why the surge in popularity and pricing is amusing. Few years ago you could find it somewhat regularly for around $30. Then it wins a best in show at SF Spirits Competition and it becomes impossible to find. Now it’s real hard to find and double the price. Reality is, you’ll never drink the barrel that won best in show because it’s a single barrel. I’ve had quite a few bottles, never got one I disliked, and thought it was good for $30.

 

This reminds me of the people who are so particular, they will search for certain batches or only buy from barrels stored in certain locations in the warehouse. I guess you can overanalyze anything, including bourbon.

My buddy finally negotiated a bottle of this after a few months of "I know a guy who knows a guy".

 

Always eyeball it, haven't tried any of their several flavors

 

That’s super interesting…. And genius. Blend up your own bottle and sell it for a ridiculously high amount to drive demand…. Not saying it’s not good, but that’s a business model almost anyone could do (providing you can legally sell spirits) I have heard good things but it’s not something that’s good ever been on my radar. Hope you get a taste!

 

Revisited this guy last night after sitting on my shelf for quite some time. Pretty tasty!

Glad to see that bottle of Old Tub hiding back there. Alongside Evan Williams BiB I think it's the best stuff you can get for under $25.

 

I LOVE Old Tub! I 100% agree. Used to be $19 here, it’s $30 now!! Wtf.. great bottles.

So, what do you do when HH announces that they are dropping EC 18 (one of my top 5 bourbons) on a Tuesday morning but you live in Rhode Island? You call your retired father and ask him what he's doing that day. The only bad thing is that HH is charging almost what secondary markets are.

 

Fuck, now I have to get abottle at secondary prices. Great.

 

How much were they?

 

Sorry about that boss. I was shocked when I found out. I mean BT sells EH Taylor small batch at $43. Figured HH wouldn't be that bad.
