I had the opposite experience when my F-550 had a warranty issue. The Ford dealer called and asked for proof that the services had been completed, I told them to look in the folder under the center seat. They did, saw that the engine had been serviced every 200 Hours (basically once a month, I joke that I should be using a Wing-Nut on my drain plug LOL) and covered the repairs. Some things in life really are simple if they’re not complicated by emotions or egos.

As far as a 20 minute visit to my dealer goes, at my local dealer it would likely take longer then 20 minutes just to get checked-in! One of my neighbors looses his Prius at our local dealer for a minimum of a day anytime he takes it in for service; dealers where I live (So.Cal) are busy!!

Keeping a personal maintenance log in which you check off the same things that the dealer would have done at each service satisfies everything you need to for any warranty claims, along with keeping all receipts for parts, fluids, etc… There are laws in the US against dealerships forcing people to pay their inflated labor rates to keep their warranties in good standing. If you DIY and don’t keep a good log or receipts you may run into issues with this, but not if you cover your ass properly.

Your maintenance obligations to keep your warranty also don’t stop after your 2 yrs/25K Toyota care. No one is forced to keep paying the dealer twice as much as a regular shop (or several times more than DIY) to keep their warranty valid for the 3yr/36K BTB warranty, the 5yr/60K drivetrain warranty, or any of Toyota’s extended warranties/VSAs. You just (may) have to show evidence that you didn’t neglect it and did the things they say to do on time, that is if they ask for it.

I'm on board with this. My point was that when it's free... just go get the service. Otherwise, once the free visits are done log your own work and keep receipts. The OP was asking about the 15k service, which is a free visit.

Mark your tires, they often don't rotate them since it's free.
