Maybe I wasn't clear in what I wrote. I listed the Toyota part number so there would not be any doubt I was using the Toyota OEM part.

The question remains, I wonder why my temps are so much lower.

Is anyone else running this t-stat?

 

Could just be the stat, I’ve had a defective one from the dealership before but was not opening

 

This ended up being a very bad idea to have this company try to tune the Haltech

They don’t understand the 5vzfe

and it was ridiculously expensive. $$$$$$

they were not able to successfully tune the Haltech on this truck

Only get tunes through Gabe Salazar

 

I am a little surprised by this. They have a good rep. What actually happened?

 

They definitely know their stuff but they DONT know the 3.4 Toyota motors spec because they don’t deal with them. Not their fault.
1)They Didn’t know the firing order or plug numbers, had to look everything on the internet as he went alone on the fly.
2) the haltech had a defective file in it and it took them half a day to figure this out and I was charged for this. They did get a new file from Gabe and then went forward after having to convince him to call Gabe. He didn’t want to.
3) in the process of trying to get it tuned with a bad file with the engine running like a big block craze cam and back firing the plugs were destroyed and they billed me for new plugs.
4) communication is terrible with them, I had to drive an hour each way 3 different times to setup or find out what’s going on and days to respond by email if they actually respond.
They will not give you their phone number.
I wanted a follow up on my tune and drove up there two time and email and never got a response back.
5) the final tune was 282 hp, same as Gabe but the midrange was only a gain of 25lbs while Gabe got me 62 Ibs,
So after I had Gabe go over the tune he got much more power out of it and fixed the other bugs that they weren’t able too, (Crankshaft sensor, surging idle).
6) ended charging me 1000.00
7) essentially no support after tune.
8) they could NOT get the crankshaft sensor working correctly, said I needed a new one, so bought a new one for 175.00 and didn’t fix the problem, but got changed for having it installed and old one removed.
Gabe got the crankshaft sensor fixed! Was a programming issue in the tune.
9) check engine light would come on when the redline was hit and could only clear it through the computer.
Gabe fixed this too, programming issue.


bottom line Gabe has been working on these motors for year’s! And knows more than anyone alone with this years working ar LCE PERFORMANCE.

SO, NOT IMPRESSIVE with the work they did or how they treated me as a customer.

Should have done the remote tune with Gabe AND THEN go do a dyno to see results and if there’s any places for improvements.

 

It looks like SNP is no longer, or at least currently not selling the elite 2000 as a kit for the 5VZ-FE. I wonder what's going on there?

 

They are using the 750 model now, not sure why not the 2000 but the 750 is cheaper,
I did have to wait 2 months for the 2000 model so maybe supplier issue,
2000 has more input options but not really needed

 

Less features and many of the efficiency features and extra outputs aren't used as initially setup by Gabe. Cost savings or perhaps just inability to get 2000 units in a timely fashion

 

Quoting Trey here as he posted what the differences are.

With the 750 you don't have the 32x32 tuning table, 'advanced' water/meth control, possibly the use of OBDII support and knock control.

If the latter is what I think it is, it seems important to have.

 

I don’t know enough about all the answers because I’m not an expert in haltech, But I have the 2000 and the OBII is not part of my system because my setup is a stand alone setup. My methanol is setup as a stand alone only and that’s how I want my setup.
I know two others that have the 750 model and it is setup for the haltech to do the methanol spraying automatically.
Knock sensors can be eliminated with either model I believe too.
So the 750 more than likely can be modified or expanded. 750 has less input plugs so the the Haltech gauge might be harder to add, not 100 percent sure tho.

The Elite 2000 has been discontinued which is too bad since it's the only one that's really appropriate for our trucks. The only choices now are to pay for a more expensive ecu with features and outputs you won't use or be short changed with a 750 that's missing important features like knock control.

 

Sorry everyone, that's my curse. Whenever I want/like something it gets discontinued

 

Good to hear they will continue to support the 2000 with updates.

I wonder how long ago this change occurred.

Know anywhere to order 5VZ ECU connectors for the other end for plug and play-ability?

 

Mouser Electronics had one for my 96, I bought it for megasquirt integration

 

I would start with Boomslang. They may not have pre-made ones but they sure know how to make them. The one that was in the kit I got from SNP was made by them.

 

I've bought from Mouser before. Know a name they go by or part #?
