Just saw this topic - I'm in my mid 60s just got my first Toyota, a 2007 Tacoma. Due to retirement around the corner, decided to downsize from 2 vehicles (an SUV and full size pickup truck) to 1. This Tacoma fits the bill. The Silver Lining to this is I'm back to what I prefer - a manual transmission! I've had the truck less than a week and love it. About 145,800 something miles, feels more like 60,000. This was a needle in the haystack, manual transmission, 4 cylinder access cab.

    Evening all:
Welcome Stelcom66, your turn to fill the cooler, then pull up a chair on the porch and join in.

Just read where a local 68 yr. old died after skidding into a creek with a zero turn and then got pinned under it and drowned :(, I have often thought about, "what if" when mowing down by the pond.

    Evening Carl,

Just be ready to jump off and don't try to save the mower, if you start to roll/get in trouble

    Thanks everyone!

Sounds like we're gonna need a cooler full of cold ones this weekend around here - temps forecast to be in the 90s! I've only been here about a week and can tell it's a good place to be. Sorry to hear about the local's mower tragedy.

Nice to see a place like this comes along with being a Toyota Tacoma owner!

    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!!

During my time as the executive vice president and then president of the college, I never ceased to be amazed at the calls and emails I received from parents. During my time there - from 2004 through 2020 - they went from being Helicopter Parents to Helicopter Gunship Parents. As a society, we've truly done a disservice in preparing young men and women for life and its many challenges. And, I'll leave it right there.

Welcome to the porch!! Sounds like you found a great Tacoma!! Where are you from?

I am truly going to be in the realm of wanting to Be Like Mike this summer. I am going to need a lot of guidance and advice. Yesterday, I sourced a complete cooling system refresh package for my '96 Z3 - from the radiator to the water pump, thermostat and housing, hoses, belts, tensioners, pulleys, bolts, O rings, you name it....... This will be my deepest dive into any auto mechanical work I've done. Pray for me.:rofl:

Pool is finally open and we're working on cleaning it up - not sure we'll make it for Saturday's projected 90F.

Welcome to the thread. Put up a few pics of your 07. We like pics!

Mark: Wishing you well for the parts replacement on the BMW. Hopefully you will not need a computer to bring any of the parts on line within the cars data system.

I am supposed to meet up, for lunch, with my brother, his son and my two sisters. My nephew is in town to pick up a visa so he can study in Germany this summer. I am excited for him to be able to do this study abroad program. Doing other mundane tasks like doing the towels today. Two loads will get the task done. Everyone have a great Thursday.

Thank you! I'm from Connecticut and not looking forward to temps in the 90s this weekend. Not a hot weather fan! I love this Tacoma. Basic wheels, maybe someday I'll get alloys. Good luck with the project. I'll admit since I'm new to Toyotas I'm going to need to look up a '96 Z3.

    Also a request for a photo -

I love the hot weather. Working on getting the pool ready - hopefully for Saturday!!

No need to look up the Z3 - it's a BMW, not a Tacoma. Bought this one new in '96.

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Susan! Finally replaced my Masterbuilt grille controller with the warranty new one, and spent more time on the connections and software. But it seems to have prompted a better app - we'll see. Lubed and Scotchgaurded the patio chairs, and some other Putz, and.... day over! Might be even more useful today after a WalMart errand. Who knows?

Oh, got hold of the Whirlpool folks, and while they won't send me a new control board, they will authorize a free service call to replace it. Have to call them today.

Welcome @Stelcom66 ! You'll like it here, for sure. You get to hear about all this work, and not do it!

I will go on a limb, and predict if you work patiently Mark, you will do just fine! :fingerscrossed:

My wife's a retired teacher. And that is not changing!

    Morning all:

    Morning Sue!

That's the plan, but may be easier said than done, hope it never comes to that!

I'm sure you will get through it Mark, I'm sure Mike will agree with me on this, don't get crazy on tightening bolts especially in aluminum and follow tightening sequences if applicable, a torque wrench is a good tool. Guys like Mike can get reasonably close to specified torque just by feel after doing it for years, I'm not that good at it. Some things need sealant, use it when specified, there's a reason they recommend it. Mike is way beyond my mechanical expertise but I would say 90% of most mechanical projects is just remembering how to put it back together once you take it apart! :facepalm:GOOD LUCK!

Just about everyone loves hot weather but me! I know nothing about BMWs - looks a fun car and wow, great shape for a '96! I shouldn't really say I know nothing about BMWs, preferring manual transmissions I think BMW is one of the few holdouts that still offer them.
