I was talking about stormtrooper who took 40 bucks and let a drunk speed off. I've been through the same situation outside of my home. I'm just saying 40 dollars isn't worth it.

You're 18, lot of life lessons in your future. You learned something today, both about the situation and about yourself. Be proud of that.

I'm 45 and still seem to learn something every week, if not every day. About the time you think you know it all...check your six...because something or someone is probably about to kick your ass.

    Take Care

I'm sure it is mainly just due to your age, you think the best course of action is to just chase the guy down and rough him up if necessary to make things right.
You said you didn't want to get the cops and insurance involved because he might come back and do something to you later. I understand that you have now called the police, and that's a good thing, but going back to your original actions for a minute, there's two things wrong with the way you were thinking.
    1) He is even more likely to come back now that you took his money, where he would have been more intimidated if the cops came. Now if he does come back, you have no proof, no back story to give the cops as to why he would do this. Not without looking bad yourself, and hoping they believe your word over his.
    2) That is what insurance is for. You got hit through no fault of your own. Your insurance would have paid that in full. I highly doubt you're going to find a mirror on eBay for $40, not to mention the color matching.

And just a side note, I read the first 4 pages but ran out of time to read the rest, so if this has already been pointed out, my bad.

How did you know he was drunk? I see leaving the scene of an accident here. I have issues with you and your buddy chasing him.

Now, what if a little kid ran out in front of you guys and you killed someone over 40.00 and something thats insured. That would be worse. What if this guy pulled a gun on you? What if by chasing him you piss him off make him go faster and he kills someone?

Nextime get the plate if possible, let the authorities take care of it.

When i say chased him down, i mean this. We got in my truck, went in the opposite direction from where he went, and looked around the neighborhood for him. And i know he was drunk because his GF Admitted, I AM SORRY, HE HAS BEEN DRINKING ALOT NOW THAT HIS FATHER JUST DIED, And not to mention he was stumbling all over the place.

And to the other guy, i actually found a mirror for $38 on ebay, and i still have some paint left over.
