    Hey all.

Admittedly don't spend enough time under my truck as I should. A while back had some Dakar springs installed, and the other day while doing some rust mitigation prep I noticed that the cable for the parking brake is resting on top of the leaf packs as well as part of the brake linkage thing. I know that part was raised when I had the new leafs installed, but apparently not enough.

For the first issue with the cable being on the leafs, I made the bracket seen here: http://www.bajataco.com/Brakes2.html

I was able to get one side on, but the other side, the pin is pretty seized up and stuck. See attached with blue circle. Any idea how to get that loose?

And any idea how to get the other part from rubbing? Just make another bracket to raise it higher? Seems like this problem will get even worse if I add those brackets for the parking brake.

    Thanks in advance

OME sells a relocation bracket for the e-brake to fix this after installing their leaf packs, it's on Wheelers Offroad website iirc

I *think* thats what I have on there already. But looking into it I kind of answered my own question by finding this one: https://www.bayareametalfab.com/BPV-Bracket_p_19.html

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Soak in penetrating fluid of your choice Air hammer if you have one to shake things loose.pipe wrench or vise grips to break it loose

If that fails cut off wheel and knock it out.You might need to spread the cable end to pop it out

Never seize when going back together

Same problem Im having! Did a AAL in the back with new springs from General HD. Made the mistake of leaving my overloads in and now my parking cable rubs and the drums definitely drag. Is there a bolt on solution? Could not find the option at wheelers! Help!

I think it would throw off my 3 degree steel shim for my pinon angle? Ive had these leafs in and out 3 times to fix stuff. Would only take me an 2 hours to remove. Id like to drive it without the e brake cable attached to see if my vibration is gone. Then make a decision from there. I also need help on adjusting the ebrake since I thinks its way off now.

Resurrecting this thread… I expect I will have the same problem with the rubbing parking brake cable. I am about to install a progressive AAL which is three more leafs per side and that cable barely clears the leaf pack as it is.

I already have a BPV relocate bracket which will raise the BPV up but it seems to me that’s only part of the problem solved.

there are still two other components - one on each side to raise I believe.

have others just fabbed their own brackets for these cable guides? see pics)

Thats right, just bend those eyelets up and even if its not perfect it does not matter. I actually just did this mod yesterday and fabbed my own brackets from pieces of angle iron I had laying around. Used a sawzall and a bi-metal Milwaukee blade, go really slow on it with some cutting oil or 30 weight oil so you dont burn up the blade. Then drill it out. Here is a diagram I was given online by another person.

I did not follow the diagram exactly since i didn't think I was building a cabinet but I found I had too much slack in my e-brake after this. My brackets are too long so stick more with the diagram than I did! Lol In my photos my e-brake is pulled all the way.

U bet! This is my buddies on facebook, the bracket should be more vertical then you wont have as much slack, I need to drill a new hole for mine and mount it this way! And slide it down to the hump on the arm. Drill the holes closer together.

I opted to fab some extensions for the cable guides out of some bed frame angle, used some 3/8” nuts for spacers and longer m8 x 1.25 bolts and jam nuts. Seems to work well
