How many MPGs could I gain (realistically) going back to stock tires??

I currently drive on BFG K02 285/70/17 on my stock TRD Sport wheels. I have a leveling kit and 1.25" spacers.
My issue is that I am driving like 100+ miles/day for work and I'm getting like 17-18MPGs combined hwy/city driving.
Could buying OEM tires give me a significant improvement in my fuel efficiency? I'd totally keep my K02's and put them back on once gas goes back down (fingers crossed) or when I don't have to drive so much for work.
Any and all input is welcome...as long as you're not an a**hole telling me to go get a Prius. If that's your input, keep scrolling.

    Thanks!

Depends a lot on what kind of driving you do. Lots of stop and go and a light tire will help a fair bit. Go back to stock, limit your top speed to 65ish, and drive so you don't have to touch the brakes and that's about as good as you'll be able to do. You could get into the low 20s.

If you really want to get crazy make an aerodynamic "fastback" topper.

What ply tires are your BFGs? E rated?

Since you're in Florida (flat land) with an automatic transmission you should be able to get >21.5 mpg with stock tires and relatively gentle driving style**.

Unless you're hitting several dozen stoplights or are in constant stop and go traffic.

Did you not have the stock tires on long enough to get a feel for how they performed?

Stock configuration returns stock MPG numbers.
I am stock tire size, no lift, no racks, no armor and easily get the sticker 23mpg, in mixed driving.
Straight highway driving, I easily get 25

Light tires would help but you also got to do the math on how much gas money you would save on stock tires vs the cost of those tires for buying lighter tires to be cost effective

I get like 14-15 with stock tires and my new 275/60/17 tires. My taco just sucks it down! Best Ive ever seen was 22 on the highway for an hour. Im in socal so lots of suburbia driving, stop n go I guess. But nothing like LA traffic.

I was unable to know what type of MPGs the original tires got me since I put the BFGs on the day I got the truck (used) since the old stock ones were nearly bald. The BFGs are an E rated 10 ply tires. I know they're heavy as well as being oversized for the truck.

    Around 2 mpg gain.
    Let's do math .. it's fun.
That would take you to around 20mpg or a 10% gain.
If you can go 350 miles before filling up then you will gain 35 miles per tank or about 1 and 3/4 of a gallon per fill up. If gas costs $4.50 a gallon, that would equate to a saving of $7.87 per fill up.
So to make things easy let's say your new set of tires costs $787 for four tires and mounting. This means you need 100 tanks of gas before you recoup your money.
If the new tires have a 50K tread life, you will end up paying for the tires through gas savings with about 15K miles left in the tires.
If you drive 500 miles a week, it will take you 70 weeks to pay for your tires.
    Good luck!

Not enough to pay for the tires.

At the moment, I’m getting 19MPG on brand spanking new TRD Pro (stock). If it can help. That’s daily driving on rural roads (20/30 miles per day).

I lost about 1.5 mpg going from the stock tires on my 2013 (V6 MT 4x4 Access Cab) to more aggressive Coopers. It's not worth it to change them out just to chase the MPGs, but when it comes time -- when the tires are worn out -- I'm going to go back to stock or even more eco-optimized tires.

2018 do the latest tsb update. That will help. Don't even bother with a tune. I'm back to stock tune with better mpgs. I'm looking for stock tire too for that very same reason.

Im in the same boat, I've dialed up my heavy tires to 44psi warm, and its been much better.

The ride is worse and tread is wearing in the center, but right now fuel is king.

If you do go back to stock, go 245/70R17 Skinnier with a highway tread for ultra milage.

Prices won't go down much. Barring another scenario where nobody is driving and oil is selling for $1.00 a barrel.

I remember food prices going up because of the so-called fuel surcharges a while back, but they never went down when gas was at an all time low.

Oil companies are making a killing and they could care less about you and me, prices may drop but a bit but I suspect $4.00~$4.50 will be the new norm.

Memorial day weekend is upon us, I saw prices jump .20 a gallon over a few hours. Should have filled up at $4.60.

ps: I don't like it either.
