    Morels, highly prized. If you cut them in half they should be hollow following the outer shape.

    Morel's is what I was thinking but I have never seen one that was black, the ones we find are tan to brown.

    Beats me. I don't like mushrooms. I've never seen black ones either though. My dad used to go morel hunting.
