Obviously you're too cheap, or simply living paycheck to paycheck.
If I couldn't afford to change my oil every 1,500 miles, I'd get a second job or sell the truck to someone who could afford to take care of it properly.

Every one knows the Tacoma V-6 is not a powerful engine. Was not made for quick speeds.

The 2019 Tacoma Manuel says the computers will adapt to the way you drive. It will Learn your style of driving.
Give it some time? Maybe a “tune” will give the performance you are looking for.

The one thing I expect is a long lasting motor. Hopeful it can go over 250,000 miles.
    Aloha

I have the X-1, Thorley Headers, TRD CAI & I can spin my tires. I've driven some with the Toyota Turbo w/X1 and it was fast. One of the problems I found was the 4 catalytic converters. The headers removed 2 & still smog legal. It's not my 454 Chevelle but it enough.

I own and still own 1999 4x4 Ford Ranger ( farm truck now) . It has the 3.0 , most rangers 4.0.
The 3.0 it lacks real power. Especially going up hills.
Compare to my 2019 Tacoma? The Tacoma runs like a speedster compare to the 3.0.

I do not find the Tacoma engine performance lacking. But everyone else says so?

my 1966 Plymouth with the straight 6 …now that was a powerful motor, makes you head jerk, if you floor boarded it.

The new engine has integral exhaust headers (cast into the block) so that’s no longer a thing, for better or worse.

I have a 4 banger...No problem at all getting up to speed. 4000 rpm is a good shift point.

Oils , I am a believer in synthetic oils, especially the Mobil synthetic grade 4 and grades 5.
It is not how often you change oil vs the quality of the oils.
Amsoil make a super high grade motor oils too.

Well good news! The Tacoma actually HAS Porsche level performance!

    Same exact 0-60 times as a base 2012 Cayenne. (0-60 mph / 7.3 seconds)

Of the years 2014 thru 2021, Comsumer Reports (April 2022) rates the 2019 model year, transmission (major/ minor repair), drive system, fuel system and overall reliability "suffers a higher rate of problems then other models". Other years had relativity few issues. Just putting this out there because it pertains to the model year 2019. Data was collected from over 300,000 different vehicles.

Eh it’s just tuned different. The 4.0 in the 4runner(read: second gen Tacoma) feels so much different than the 3.5 in the 3rd Gen taco even with basically the same output specs it’s wild. It isn’ta wonder that second gen people dislike it, the torque curve is way different. I don’t mind it personally but I’m not afraid of the gas either

The Tacoma preforms well on the reliability scale. Not the “power” scale.
Never has, probably never will. Not unless Toyota decides to jump on “HP and numbers game”.

I don’t care how much power it makes. None of it matters when it’s broken down setting still.

Don't mean to be rude or anything but I think the Taco has learned the driving habits of your father in law. Drive it around the way that you want it to be driven and the truck will pick your driving habits and then it will hopefully perform better. Just sayin.
