How long did you have to wait for your factory 2022 order/request/whatever it is called?

Agree. I know there are port staffing and trucking issues etc, but this is crazy to be waiting this long. The trucks have been made for crying out load so wth. I'm thinking I need to ring Bezos up and have him Prime ship it and then I'll have it in 2 days.

 

I agreed on a deal with them first, but didn't put a deposit down because they didn't have an allocation at the time. They thought they had one from another dealership, but that dealership didn't mark it as being sold. While they were waiting on an allocation, Spitzer Toyota in Monroeville called me because they just received an allocation that was almost identical to what I wanted.

I gave University the option to beat what Spitzer was offering me on my trade to keep me with them, but like normal, they didn't read my emails or respond. So I took the deal with Spitzer. About a week later I got an email from the salesperson from University telling me that they didn't forget about me and were still trying to find an allocation for me...haven't heard from them since.

I keep going back to University when looking for vehicles, but every time I go there, I'm reminded why I've never bought a vehicle from them.

If Dan Cava could have gotten an allocation for what I was looking for, I most definitely would have went with them. They offered me $28k on my trade ('19 Hyundai Tucson Sport) for a used 2019 Off-Road and said they would probably offer me closer to $30k on a new one. But they just weren't getting any allocations that were close to what I wanted.

 

Anyone else waiting from the Chicago area with a 5/10 rail departure from San Diego?

Yeah that makes sense, they have my allocation and the more I hear about them the more cautious I become. Thankfully I don't have a trade in so should be pretty simple. I haven't heard of Spitzer though. Glad you got what you were looking for though even though it took some work. Sounds very common in this thread.

I'm in Chicago, so for what it's worth...my Tacoma rail departed San Diego on 5/6. Between 5/16 - 5/19, I was getting notifications in the Toyota app of doors being unlocked, miles on the odometer, fuel in the tank, and air pressure in the tires. Today, I received confirmation it was on a truck to my dealer. It should be at the dealer today, but I won't be able to pick it up until Monday at the earliest. So 2-weeks + 1-day to go from San Diego to a dealer in the Chicagoland area was my experience.

I've never had any luck with their salespeople, but I have heard the service department is pretty good.

Spitzer is in Monroeville, up near Shittsburgh.

I contacted a ton of dealerships (even as far away as Reading, PA) and had them all trying to find my allocation. Then I went with the first one that had it and wasn't charging over MSRP and gave me a decent price for my trade.

@tariskellog - I got a call from some manager at the dealer earlier. He told me there's nothing they can do, it's a freight issue, and don't contact Toyota anymore because they won't do anything.

things seem to be steady now so assuming the transportation side operates with the production line, your truck should be departing for rail or port for vessel transfer tomorrow or Sunday.
