There it is! I was assuming that car was a manual, great choice! Jeez if I saw that car in a showroom, I'd think it was new.

Nice seeing a former college president that likes cool vehicles, the Tacoma included of course.

Thanks!! Both the car and I have a few nicks and scratches but we're not in too bad shape for our ages. Heck, how many academicians can claim to have shot in Vintage Sniper Rifle competitions, let alone own 2 WWII Soviet M91/30 sniper rifles?:D:thumbsup::rofl: Life is good!!

Good morning fellow Porchatonians!! Got the pool vacuumed out yesterday, brushed the walls and bottom and shocked the hell out of it again. I'll vacuum it agin this morning and then take in a water sample to get the amount of salt I need to put into it. Then I'll get the heater going - should be swimming tomorrow.

Storms rolling through this am, moving due E. Don't hear any big wind, but some predicted later. Luckily only 65°. May take a chance and leave deck umbrellas up for a while. Two stray cats sitting on the table under one.
New generator battery yesterday, found a perfect fit. Not much free space, so it had to be exact. Always find the right battery at Walmart, cheaper than most, last as long as any. Plugs, oil change, filters, test run, back in business. Peace of mind, wind picking up, not good on power lines comingled with trees.

Had to buy a new plug gapper, couldn't find any of the several I have. It was $5. They used to be freebies. However, it's stamped Made in USA, I would have paid $10 because of that.

Morning 60's. Have been fasting on nothing but water (and laxative mix yuk) since Wednesday night. Have the dreaded normal colonoscopy this morning. Coming up on the tail end of prepping. LOL Doc office better hadn't be running late.

Lunch yesterday was nice and relaxing. I received our CMA Fest tickets, passes and information I will need yesterday. Time to get a trip folder started.

Plumber should be out this morning to replace the hot water heater check valve and fix one of the outdoor spigots.

Cooking up two pork tenderloins today in the WSM. They will marinate in a garlic, ginger, honey, soy sauce and lime juice sauce for about 6 hours. Along with steamed green beans and redskin potatoes. For dessert there will be grilled pineapple wedges. Life is good. Get your shopping done today, tomorrow is Saturday.

Jalapeno and Habanero are doing well, 3 of 5 bells have fruit, but not color yet. (Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple, & Green). Cajun Belle is coming along too. Took the leggy tomatoes outside; they have about the same fruits as the poolside plants, but are thin and stalky despite my trimmings. Bought a plastic shelf, and bulit it upside down to make a water tray. Starting some lettuce seeds, which have oddly done decently in the past in the greenhouse. We'll see.

Went to check on the Taco now at the "hospital" (body shop) - they are now waiting on some discovered parts....... Took them the 3M black panel to re-cover the reflective spot on the hood. Apparently Toyota doesn't offer an equivalent item - but they offered to install one that I bought as part of the repair. I'm going to be glad to get my own truck back - but the rental I'm driving is a huge white 4 door dodge with a 5.7 Hemi. The Taco would be way more fun with the big V8! Probably break a few parts ...........

I'm not too surprised but the rental gets better mileage than the Toyota - better than when the Tacoma was brand new........

    Morning all:

Steve, when you get the Taco back, post a pic of the 3M panel you bought that covers the reflective spot on the hood. I was thinking of getting my buddy to make one based on the design of the one on the TRD offroad, he can easily copy one with the equipment he has.

Best was what I did: I posted an ad to trade my 2015 Sport hood for an Off Road hood without the fake scoop.
Guy came out with a couple of buddies and did the whole trade thing while I sat back and directed traffic. Gave me $75 to boot. No more reflective spot.

Wow - those look like they're really doing well for just being in containers! I was considering trying a tomato plant in a 5 gallon bucket on the deck. I have a garden as well, but typically some animal(s) get at it even though it's surrounded by a fence. I'd still put something around the bucket.

Carl - The flat hoods are way worse than the scooped ones (drove a friends truck to see if that bump would help). The flat black panels made by 3M seem to last the best - the one on my wrecked hood has been there for five years or so with no problems. I got the first wrap from Crawlorado - and it worked fine - a new one from them is $75. Found another for this new hood on Amazon: $60
Hood Blackout Wrap.jpg Figure I'll see how this one does - looks to be the same exact shape as the first one. Last I checked, a piece of the 3M film big enough to do my own was $30+ and that has been a few years. The nice thing (in my opinion) is that it only covers enough of the bright surface enough to do the job. Doesn't go clear down to the grille or out to the width of the hood. Makes an immediate difference!

    Evening all:

OK, thanks Steve, I was under the impression that the scooped hoods on the TRD Sport were worse.

Got a partial pond mowing done just before the downpour, had to modify my access cut to even get to it, still too wet to mow some of the bottom of the yard and now it's even wetter! :(
:annoyed: Always something out to get us, now it's monkeypox, what next!

you gotta be kidding. You were awake the whole time? My next one is scheduled for 3 weeks from now, and will be full sedation like all others since the first unforgettable trip down that road. I don’t want to feel it, remember it, nor participate in conversation during.

    evening....

well close to 10K later I have a new roof!!! Should last a long time. I picked Frostone Gray shingles - picture looks more gray than white, but I'm happy the way it turned out. I wanted a white, to reflect the heat, but was told my trees sweat and will discolor the white, so picked the next darkest one.... Looks pretty white/light gray to me.... contractor said he liked the way it looked.

When I re-roofed for solar a few years back, grey shades were near impossible to find here -- go figure in Texas. You'll love it, and the color will help with cooling.
